Street demonstrations often lead to anti-Indian violence

Dear Editor,

Now that a new impasse has been reached in the negotiations concerning the upcoming elections, I see that the opposition parties have called for street demonstrations. I trust that Dr Roopnaraine and the other leaders have taken into account the violence that is normally meted out to Indians whenever these street demonstrations are held. I also trust that they are prepared to take responsibility for damage to property, rape of innocent women, robberies and the ensuing mayhem and fear that results. They should know that PNCR street demonstrations have a history of accompanying violence directed principally at the Indian community.

Know, all you leaders of the opposition parties - Ravi Dev you are not spared either - that the Indian community will be watching to see how far the violence goes, and what your response will be and you will be held accountable. This, of course, will show up at the ballot boxes.

Yours faithfully

Mohan Singh
