John Scott McKean (Q123529)

John Scott MCKEAN was born in 1888 in Banana, QLD, AUS, the third child and eldest son of John Scott MCKEAN (1854-1916) and Margaret WANMER (1866-1956).

John enlisted for WW1 in May 1915 but was recommended for discharge on medical grounds in late 1915.

John married Ethel BOYCE (1889-1968) in January 1917 and they had four children.

In January 1942 at Coorparoo, QLD, John enlisted in the Citizen's Military Forces and he served until March 1944 with the 1 Garrison Battalion. John appears to have lied about his age in order to be accepted into the CMF as the National Archives shows his date of birth as 29 August 1893.

John passed away in Brisbane in July 1954.
