Colorado Our Trip 2003 |

These were the ruins we visited. They call the indians ancient pueblo's because the more common term Anasazi is actually an indian slang term meaning 'enemy'.
The cliff is actually situated inside a gorge. We began our tour on top and had to climb down and then back up again on ladders. It was very warm, but inside the dwellings it was actually quite cool. |

We were lucky enough to stay at a bed and breakfast while we were here and this is the stream behind the B&B!
We went for a walk there every single evening! |

These are just a few of the mountains that were all around the city of Durango where we stayed. Most of this region was either mining or lumber communities in the past.
Durango is in the southern most part of Colorado and has milder temperatures than what you usually think of as Colorado. Even here though there are quite a few skiing resorts.
Durango is home of one peak that is 14,000 feet high.
This was a small lake not far off the highway. |
