III.C.1.C: Grief


Grief is good. You would have to be a rock not to have some sense of loss. It means you are human.

Parents have told me the first thing they felt when they realized their child's future was grief. It was as if their child had died, or at least the child they had looked forward to. They had to almost physically bury all the expectations they had. Over time, though, you discover the wonderful person that is actually living with you.

Even so, the feelings of grief can come back every time your child loses another ability.
