Alpha Xi Delta’s interest in the development and special needs of children led the fraternity to adopt Choose Children as our national philanthropy. On the ETSU campus, the members of the Gamma Theta chapter contribute to the Choose Children effort by holding two philanthropic events per school year. In the fall, Gamma Theta sponsors an event called Tournament of Champions.  Men from each fraternity compete in relay races, obstacle courses, and tug of war.  All funds collected are donated to Girls, Inc, a local girls after school program.  During spring semester, members of Gamma Theta participate in a Children's Fair supporting local elementary schools.

In the spring of 2002 the sisters of the Gamma Theta chapter hosted a city-wide Teddy Bear Drive, with all proceeds going to the Johnson City Police Department's Children's Rescue Services!
