| When we were called for this track, the archer had already tracked the animal 100 yards and the blood ran thin. We put Trapper on this track and at the 70 yard point Trapper took a 90 degree turn from the known blood trail the archer had worked. The archer made a comment that the dog was off of the blood trail, but I decided to go with my dogs instinct. We started to see blood 40yards after the turn and then found 8 inches of the arrow then heavy blood and 20 more yards the deer piled up! The doe had doubled back on her trail and Trapper caught it! They are truly worth their weight in Gold. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| After Trapper's track we recieved a call at home concerning a high hit spike. The archer said there was blood at the point of entry where the deer was standing, but could not find a drop more. We decided to use Rosco,(since it was his turn) and as usual he pointed out very small drops of blood for the first 60 to 70 yards. Rosco back tracked twice during the first 70 yards. It worked out for us, this being Rosco's specialty for a track. He is very meticulous and breathes it all in and misses nothing, slow and steady. After 65 yards he picked up more blood, the deer had twisted through the thick brush, but stayed in a straight line of travel, with only one forty-five degree turn. Rosco found this deer 340 yards from the point of hit and he is 34 wks old and litter mate to Trapper. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Here is Cody and Merlin's 7th find for the year, we will see if we can coax a story from them! | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Jason came back to camp Saturday morning and said he arrowed a nice doe but wasn't sure of the shot. We waited for 2 hours before loading up the dogs and heading for the stand. Once we arrived i inspected the arrow and told Jason he had a gut shot deer. His excitement changed to despiration. After looking for blood and finding only 3 or 4 drops the first 10 yards then nothing his heart sank. We put Rosco on this one due to his slow and deliberate tracking ability. Matt put Rosco on the arrow and gave him the command to track, it didn't take him long to get on the trail. The only problem is we didn't know for sure he was on it, we could not find any blood to confirm it. After about a 100 yards Rosco made a 120-degree turn and was headed back to a oak stand and under brush. Just inside the group of oaks Matt picked up a leaf and stated, we are on the right trail i got blood! About that time the doe kicked and tried to get up just 10 yards in front of him in the brush. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The buck went 60 yards and left a pretty good blood trail that my friend Terry found with no problem. But never pass up an opportunity to track, both Trapper and Rosco found the deer in record time. Since Matt and Rosco did such a fine job the day before I gave the honors to them. Look how happy and proud Rosco is. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
