Performance notes: On the main riff, Slash and Izzy are playing the same riff togeher in
unison to create the huge 'wall of sound'. The main riff features some slight palm muting
on the sixth string to create a percussive effect. Don't let any of the notes ring and in
order to try to get the sound that Slash manages to achieve, cut off the ringing notes with
any of your free fingers.Use your first finger to fret the E5 power chord, your second
(middle) finger on the 3rd fret on the 6th string and your first (index) finger on the
2nd fret on the 5th string. This is a hard riff to master and to play at the right speed
so practice untill you can. The amp should be set on heavy distortion with a slightly high
bass and reverb. The guitar solo features vibrato, slides, string bends, hammer-ons and
pull-offs but it is relatively simple. Slash uses classical guitar scales for this solo
and the solo was often changed when Guns N' Roses played the song live. The last part of
the song features picked arpeggios played on a classical guitar. Use a combination of
alternate and consecutive picking (whatever feels more comfortable).

Repeat the acoustic riff until the song fades out. Use can create an effect similar
to the fade out by picking the string more and more gently so the volume is lowered.
HOT TIP: In the main riff, as soon as you strike the E5 part on the 5th and 4th strings,
don't remove your first finger away from the strings but instead, release the pressure
applied by your finger. This is how Slash play the riff.
