Baltimore - USA
Anchoring one side of the inner harbor is Baltimore's National Aquarium. As anyone who has been to Baltimore will attest, this is a must see. More than just a place to view sea creatures, the aquarium features a rain forest with exotic birds and a running stream. There are performances by the dolphins, a pavilion featuring marine mammals, a petting area, a coral reef exhibit and a whole group of venomous creatures including gargantuan tarantulas. Beautifully engineered so anyone can easily move along its spacious round corridors, there is just about every sea animal one can imagine. Watch the attendants swim with the fish as they clean the tanks while keeping an eye out for sharks. Walk through the steamy tropical forest right out of a South American jungle. For a real treat watch the Ibis, a bird that flies and then dives into the water, swims and then takes off like a seaplane. Or are they fishes that fly? Whatever - the treat is to go to the aquarium. It is an absolutely astonishing event. - Jules Blitz (Source: mapquest.com)
