The city of ShumenThe city of Shumen is situated in North-Eastern Bulgaria, 80 km from the country's sea capital of Varna. This holy region is the place where the Bulgarian state was established. The beautiful nature and the natural protection of the territory against enemies has attracted the founders of one of the first European states back in the year 681. This is where the strong and powerful Bulgarian kingdom came into being. You can still see the ruins of the first two Bulgarian capitals - Pliska and Veliki Preslav. These places still bear the bewitching spirit of the glorious past. Do you want to feel Bulgaria in your heart? This is the place to come!

Madara HorsemanYou will be able to visit Madara Archaeological Reserve. You will see the unique relief of Madara Horseman. Hewn into the rock, 25 meters above the earth, is the figure of a horseman - symbol of the powerful Bulgarian ruler. Madara Horseman is under the auspices of UNESCO.

You will be enthralled by the magnificent acoustics of The Big Cave ancient sanctuary. It is a cave in the rock down which runs water that people have used for centuries for its healing effect.

Travel in a cartTombul MosqueThis same region is the home of KABIUK - the oldest stud breeding farm in the country. You will see elite horses of the Arab, Pure English and East Bulgarian breeds. You can also ride a horse and travel in a cart.

You will see one of the biggest and oldest Muslim mosques on the Balkan Peninsula - Tombul Mosque in Shumen.

A visit to the memorial complex Founders Of Bulgarian State is also included in the tour. The monument has been erected on the plateau overlooking the city.

The Bulgarian house in the village of OsmarYou will visit a Bulgarian house in the village of Osmar, situated 14 km South of Shumen. In the house of the Sveshtarovi family you will taste local Bulgarian wine. The hosts will offer you home-made banitsa (cheese pastry) and fruit. A folk group of local people dressed in traditional national costumes will show you how Bulgarians celebrate one of their customs. You will feel the Bulgarian hospitality and will learn a lot about the way people live in Bulgarian villages. There is an old cooperage in the house. Close to it is the local church with old icons known to have healing effect on the people who see them.
