The
Union Blue
The
call went out from Lincoln For
men able, strong, and true To
rally around the stars, and strips To
wear to union blue The
answer came by the thousands Men
both young, and old They
came to save their young nation These
men so brave, and bold They
left behind their loved ones It
seemed the right thing for them to do No
matter their creed or colour They
all wore the union blue The
southern wind was blowing hard And
death rode with that wind But
the north would rise to meet it There
would be one nation yet again The
south would have her victories For
her grey clad sons would fight hard too But
in the end they would be washed away By
a sea of union Blue Though
time has taken all of those Who
fought this war so long ago The
memories of it still haunt us For
its wounds have healed slow That
we today stand as one united Is
a fact we all see is true We
owe it to those men of long ago Who
wore the union blue The
