Firstly, I wish to offer my heartfelt thanks to Andre Hensley for asking me to write this letter.

The ULC offers many wonderful opportunities for people with different beliefs and practices. There is strength in numbers, and the ULC has helped us all over the years by taking on battles other churches would not.

It is also true, however, that those of us who are in liturgical Christian traditions, i.e., Catholicism and Orthodoxy, have special interests and issues, ranging from the relatively simple, such as ceremonial, to the more complex, such as polity, ecclesiastical discipline and how to best integrate our episcopal and priestly duties within the structure of the ULC. To this end, I have begun to think that it might be wise if there was an association in which those of us of these persuasions can share and grow.
