If Mr Anson's book succeeds, as it should if read with understanding, in directing its readers to this crucial issue in the problem of Christian unity by its reductio ad absurdum of the position of bishops at large, it will prove of considerable value in the elucidation of the fundamentals of the ecumenical dialogue, and will be yet another sign-post on the road to unity.
