the Design Scene in Brooklyn
Focus: [MAKE] Product Development and the
Brooklyn Designs Expo
Brooklyn, NY April 27, 2004 -- [Make] Product
Development, a Red Hook based firm of 4 industrial designers,
Kevin Williams, McKay Duncan, Scot Spratford, and Scott
Lundberg, is eagerly anticipating their debut at Brooklyn
Designs, the annual design expo taking place at DUMBO's top
cultural spots, St Ann's Warehouse and the Brooklyn Designs
Gallery. The expo features some of Brooklyn's most exciting
designers and manufacturers of home furnishings and is expected
to draw over 4000 trade, consumer and media attendees. The expo
has created a significant buzz since its 2003 premiere, adding
cache to the already hot Brooklyn art and design scene.
[Make] sees the expo as an important opportunity to highlight
their unique place in the Brooklyn design community by
presenting a diverse group of designs, everything from fine
contemporary furniture to mass produced consumer products. [Make]'s
strength is derived from the varied backgrounds of its
designers. The team, all trained industrial designers, has
significant experience in consumer product design and
engineering, home furnishing design, fine furniture production,
exhibit design, as well as architecture, interior design, and
fine art. "Because of the strength of our collective experience
we are able to work across many specialized fields to produce
outstanding and innovative design in both custom furniture and
exhibit design as well as mainstream consumer products," says
[Make] designer Scott Lundberg.
[Make], a multidisciplinary design and development firm in
Brooklyn, provides a full range of services to manufacturers,
museums, retailers, institutions, and private individuals. From
soup to nuts, [Make] is positioned to create beautifully

[Make]'s designers, all graduates of Pratt Institute's Master of
Industrial Design program, are dedicated to building their
business in Brooklyn. Located on Van Brunt Street in happening
Red Hook, they've made great successes, gaining new clients,
brokering manufacturing agreements, and developing Make designed
items for sale at retailers such as the Home Depot, Sam's Club,
Bed, Bath and Beyond, Kmart, and Target, as well as furniture
installations for Brooklyn clients, like the Open House Nursery
School in Cobble Hill. [Make]'s design studio boasts 5000 sq
feet of state-of-the-art computer engineering equipment, a
top-of-the-line wood and metal shop, conference and exhibition
