‘It takes a village to raise a child.’

We take this African proverb to heart. But we need your help!

We understand that with busy working lives and raising a family, especially one that includes a child living with autism or aspergers, we can all feel spread thin. We are parents of children with autism. But we know that the work we do as members of Autism Ontario is crucial for creating a better world for our children and for your children. The Upper Canada Chapter of Autism Ontario works to create a community that provides acceptance and opportunities for our children and all individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders.

The Upper Canada Chapter of Autism Ontario is a group of dedicated volunteers who provide information and education, support research, and advocate for programs and services for the autism community. We provide a network of people who support one another and our families. We are very proud of the achievements we have made right here in our community to ensure that each individual with ASD is provided the means to achieve quality of life as a respected member of society. The majority of families we support live in and around the city of Cornwall and the united counties of Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry; as well as a large number of families living in Leeds-Grenville to the west.  We comprise one of the largest geographic chapter areas in Ontario.  Our community is largely rural in nature and this does present a challenge in offering services and activities.  We need your support to continue our efforts.

Empower yourself and your child by making a difference. Please become a member and /or volunteer with us. Volunteering is a way of both giving and receiving. Just a few hours a month or a few hours a year can make that difference. We have many opportunities to meet your interests. Please consider some of the ways that you can help your child and our children, by either researching information, organizing or helping out with events or public speaking, or sharing your talents.

Give us a call at 1-877-268-2211, drop us an email at [email protected] or visit our website at  www.autismontario.com/uppercanada.  We’d love to talk to you about our achievements and how you can contribute in a way that fits into your lifestyle.
