Wellington caves

 Location

The Wellington caves are located 8km south of Wellington just 1km off the Michell highway. Two caves are open for inspection every day of the year except Christmas day.

Tours

There are two caves open for inspection, the large Cathedral cave (45 mins) and the smaller Gaden (coral) Cave (45mins). Tours are conducted throughout the day at 9am, 10am, 11am, 12 noon, 2pm, 3pm and 4pm.

The caves

Other caves in the area are Water Cave (known as McCavity), Mitchell Cave,

Lime Kiln Cave, Big Sink Cave, Bone Cave and the Phosphate Mine.

Another one is called Gas Pipe Cave because of the co2 in the air in the cave it wasn't enough to harm the tours except the guide that got numerous headaches for the repeated environment that he/she was in.
