    Many Witches believe that all Witches should write their own spells, reasons for this are that many new Witches may try using a spell word for word out of a book and they may not mean what some of the components of the spell are really for and therefore the spell will not work properly. If you wish for a spell to succeed what is important is the intent of the energy and not the words that are spoken, and if you do not know what you are doing how can the spell or ritual possibly be effective.
When writing your own spells and rituals you already know the meaning and significance of every word and action contained in your spell and your magickal workings will be full of power.

     Here is an outline as to how you can write your own spells and rituals:

Know The Basics:
Know what maigick is. Know different ways to raise, direct and ground energy. Know how to cast a circle and know how to open it. Know the basic outline of a spell.

Know The Intent or Purpose:
What are you trying to do?
-Heal an illness
-Increase your concentration
-Celebrate a Sabbat etc...
Before you begin any magickal working you should already know what outcome you are seeking

Know The Best Time To Work A Spell:
It would help to know what type of magick should be worked during the waning, waxing, full and new moon. What days of the week are best for different types of magickal working. Learn how the moon phases and the days of the week affect magickal working so you will know when to work your spell or ritual.

Know The Correspondences:
Learn which colors will bring what results. Try learning about herbalism; which herbs are used for what magickal purpose. Learn about image magick and how it works. Also learn about elemental magick and which elements can be used for what types of magick.
And last but not least believe in yourself and in your magick, what will be will be!
