When casting a circle it is not necessary to use tools, however most standard practices call for a bowl of fresh water, a chalice, or small dish of salt or earth and either a wand or an athame, candles may also be used.

    First you cleanse and consecrate your salt and water by using your mental energies Bless each item calling upon the power of the Lady to do so. Using the tip of your athame or just pinching with your finger put some of the salt into the water and stir.

    Next you use the cleansed, purified and blessed salt water to cleanse the circle area by sprinkling it from centre to outer edge in a clockwise spiral.

    The next step is using the athame to construct the actuall energy field. Going clockwise visualize the energy traveling from you, down your arm, through your hand and out through the athame (you can start in the north or in the east but remember to end where you started).

    The last step is calling upon the elements, energies or watchtowers, whatever you feel more comfortable with (North,East,South and West).

    When all your magickal working is complete DON'T forget to ground and close your circle. To close to circle, sit in the middle, close your eyes and visualize all the energy that you have inside slowly draining from your body and going into the ground or the floor. Visualize the energy coming from the top of your head and dissapearing into the air. Do this for as long as you feel is needed. When closing the circle it is nice to thank the quarters and also thank the God/Goddess that you asked to be present. Now with your athame (or finger) retrace your circle only going in the opposite direction this time, visualize the energy evaporating and disapearing. After doing this go around the circle from N, E, S, and W and snuff out any candles that you have lit, pour your chalice of water into the ground and toss the salt or earth on the ground outside aswell.
