R.I.P. JAM MASTER JAY
Look I don't know what the circumstances were or the details of what went down, but this shit is just bad. Last night, my little brother rushed into my room *okay maybe i'm overdramatizing here* and announced this news to me. I then proceeded to validate this as fact cuz the list of celebrities sent to an early grave because of rumors is hella long. Unfortunately, it was true. Apparently Jay was shot in the head at a studio and pronounced dead on the scene. Now, I'm not gonna go on and on about guns, violence, and endangered black youth (fuck the dumb, Jay was a young man in my opinion) cuz I think some of us already know how critical the situation is. I'm just gonna try to re-situate my reference system a little. See, I didn't know Jay personally, but he was a solid part of my formative years. I mean, how many of you remember how young you were when you first heard Run DMC or have some memories attached to one of their songs, videos, or concerts. It's like waking up in an unfamliar place, your frame of reference has shifted and the shit's shocking. Well, my favorite member of Run DMC is gone. At risk of "heading it up," I think I'll just shut it up now. Yeah.
