Album: Rumah Sakit Live At the Bottom Of The Hill

Label: Errol Records

Released: August 02

Rumah Sakit are an instrumental indie/jazz band, and this is their first EP, recorded live in San Francisco July 4th 2000, and comprises of six tracks. They are a good solid live band and you can really get the most out of a band like this by hearing them playing live. The mood goes from slow laid back grooves to the erratic, fast and chaotic. But despite this it all seems to blend pretty well, and they are all superb musicians and are not afraid of experimenting. You really dont know where the songs will take you when you first put them on. Some might think that their songs all sound too similar and that they dont have much of a structure, but to me they are just trying to see where the grooves could take them by going down different paths. Its good chill-out music, some of the music just drifts along. You could also get this just for the amazing song titles like New Underwear Dance, No One Like a Grumpy Cripple, Sausage Full of Secrets and Stomach ache Due To The Sincere Belief That The Rest of The Band Is Trying To Kill Me. Of course this sort of music isnt for everybody, but if you appreciate fine musicianship or something a bit different then they could be for you.
