Prologue
Undisclosed Location Near Snowflake Falls City
As the winter winds whip around him, a lone soul trudges his way through the snowfield, holding his trenchcoat tightly around him attempting to block out some of the frigid cold. He manages a few more steps before finally collapsing face down into the snow. With his fleeting strength, he reaches down to his belt and pulls out his last remaining Pokéball. His finger pushes the trigger, releasing the Pokémon. In a flash of light his one true companion appears, his Arcanine. "Arcanine...", he manages to say. "Arcanine go on, get out of here. I can't protect you anymore. Get out of here before they find us both.". The Arcanine looks at him questioningly, then lets loose a confused bark. "If we're both caught...then it's all for nothing. Get out of here!". Lowering its head, the Arcanine licks its master's face, letting loose quiet howls of sorrow. "Arca...nine..." the man's hand feebly attempts to push away his Arcanine until finally he blacks out to the sound of paw steps running away from him.
