To Reiki
Reiki is a very old form of energy healing using the hands as instruments to channel healing energy and there is evidence of it in many countries including ancient India, Egypt and China. Energy healing with the hands was used by many throughout the centuries, including Buddha & Jesus.
The word Reiki is Japanese and is a generic word used to describe spiritual & energy healing. The Usui form of Reiki was researched & rediscovered by Dr. Usui of Japan, who was born in the 1800s. The form of Reiki that is practiced in the U.S. today can for the most part be traced at least partially back to Dr. Usui, and those he initiated and taught the practice of Reiki.
Today there are several types of Reiki, and while there are some variations, they share the same basics for the most part. If you are unfamiliar with Reiki and wish to do further research, I recommend a book called "Essential Reiki" by Diane Stein.
There are several Basic Levels that a Reiki Practitioner can attain. A very brief description of them is:
Reiki I - One who has been certified to practice energy healing on others in person.
Reiki II - One who has been certified to practice distance or remote healing in addition to in-person energy healing.
Reiki III/IV- Reiki Master - One who is certified to teach Reiki and certify others as well as to do in-person and distance/remote healing.
