AN INTRODUCTION TO KINGSWAY ACADEMY
OUR BACKGROUND
Kingsway Academy was founded in 1959 to serve families in the community by providing a God-centred education for their children. Wdh the support and encouragement of parents, the school was expanded in the late 1970's to include a High School Division. The motto of the school from is inception has been Training Children In the King's Way. (Proverbs 22.6)
OUR IDENTITY
Kingsway Academy is an interdenominational, evangelical, co-educatonal Christian day school governed by a Bahamian Board of Directors. It is an incorporated, non-profit company, recognized by The Ministry of Educaton of The Bahamas and a member of The Bahamas Association of Independent Secondary Schools (BAISS). Kingsway Academy is an Associate Member of The Association of Christian Schools lnternational (ACSI).
OUR PURPOSE
Kingsway Academy exists to provide children wfth a sound education that is thoroughly Christian in its outlook and practice - Training Children in the King's Way.
OUR EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
The underlying principle of Kingsway Academy's philosophy of educaton is that "all truth is God's truth" for God is the author of truth (John 16:13). He has revealed Himself to mankind through the Bible, the Person of Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit ministering through our consciences and through the wonder of nature. Upon this premise Kingsway seeks to mould the lives of its students from a spiritual, intellectual, social and physical perspective.
OUR FACULTY
Faculty members at Kingsway Academy are required to have both spiritual and academic qualificatons. They must be Born-Again Christians with a clear testimony and lifestyle.
OUR SCHOOL BOARD
Kingsway Academy is directed by a self-perpetuabng Board of Directors. These men and women, from various evangelical churches in the area, prayerfully establish the policies of the school. The members of the Board represent a variety of professional and business backgrounds.
OUR ACADEMIC PROGRAMME
Kingsway Academy is widely known for the quality of its education. A solid foundational programme characterizes the Elementary grades, with expanded courses and electives at the Secondary level. The programme is rigorous and demanding, developing academically strong students with high achievement levels. The High School programme is college preparatory but also caters to the needs of those students who may wish to enter the work force upon completion of Secondary level studies.
OUR CAMPUS
The Kingsway Academy campus is situated on Bernard Road approximately three miles east of Nassau, the capital city, on New Providence Island. Most of the ten-acre campus is landscaped.The Elementary School facilities include classes from Kindergarten through Grade Six, as well as a Resource Room and Music Room.
In addition to regular classrooms, the High School is equipped with specialist rooms, laboratories and workshops for instruction in the Sciences, Computer Studies, Home Economics, Business, Vocational and Technical subjects.
The playing field facilitates such sporting activities as Softball, Basketball, Volleyball, Soccer and Track and Field.
The school's Activity Centre is equipped wfth facilities for dramatic and musical productions and serves the entire school as an assembly hall for weekly Chapels, P.T.A. Meetngs and special functons. A Library containing reference books, curriculum-related texts and novels for general reading, also serves the needs of both sections of the school.
Short-term projections include the constructon of a large gymnatorium/cafeteria complex.
