The Dragons and the Angels

From the Earth I had watched the sky
Above a fight to the death had been taking place
The angels on one side, dragons as the opponents
There the angels floated--a brilliant pure white
They stood steadily against their foes without hesitation
In their flawless hands they carried Bibles as shields
For armor they were cloaked in flowing celestial robes of white

Then, only feet away from the angels, were the dragons
Hideous beasts armored with scales of evil black
Each beast was surrounded in puffs of ebony-colored smoke
This smoke came from deep within where eternal fires, fueled by hatred, burned
One of the dragons advanced--I adverted my eyes for an instant
The next minue a single dragon bore an angry, round, orange wound
Blood poured forth from it and bathed the Earth
Then the dragons slowly sank silently and took with it the day's light
The battle was launched
Dragons stood sneering, lighting the angel's robes on fire
Angels advanced bravely, all then consumed by the dragon's fire
Small dragons charged the angels standing strong in the front lines
The attacked angels stood with their Bibles raised, prayers lifting from their thin lips
The small dragons wrapped themselves around the angels and devoured them
On light wings furious angels beset the dragons
Although the wrath of God was in their souls their attempts were futile Each was ravanged one after the other
I turned and went in my home
No longer could I stand to watch the innocent slaughter
It didn't matter anymore who one
For this battle had been taking place for many centuries
In my heart I know the truth
It was a real battle--only clouds with realistic shapes
They fough a battle as the world fights each day
It is of hatred and of the strong preying on the weak
Like the angels I shall fight until my soul is consumed by the inevitable flames of evil
Still the images were very real that night
Maybe, just maybe, it really was the angels fighting the dragons for the world to see.
