The Beginning
The society was set up in 1995 to organise field-trips, lectures and other events for students on the newly formed part-time BA History and Archaeology degree at Birkbeck College. Since then we have organised visits to a number of archaeological sites and have welcomed many eminent lecturers to the College. Now that the College has expanded its part-time archaeology courses to include MA Archaeology, the Society aims to increase its activities and become a focal point for all part-time archaeology students in London. We also extend a welcome to students from other colleges and indeed anyone who shares our passion for the subject.�
