Shasta Daylight

Dunsmuir, California

Early 1950s

Photography by Lou Cross

The following photo was taken by Lou Cross, a custom builder of O-scale passenger cars.

The Shasta Daylight makes a station stop at Dunsmuir in northern Calfornia. The car above the man walking along the platform is the kitchen section of the articulated triple-unit diner. The Coffee Shop and Dining Room are on either side of the kitchen. The car nearest the camera is a chair car. Note the extra large windows, a distinguishing feature of the Shasta Daylight.
