1. This line-up of Maintenance of Way (MoW) equipment was on a siding in Beaumont during the winter and spring of 1976.

2. A Harriman 70-foot ex-baggage car with modernized doors.

3. This was at one time one of the San Joaquin Daylight's baggage-mail cars with a 60-foot mail apartment.

Three of these cars, SP 5217-19, were rebuilt from baggage-horse cars (see Photo #5) in the early 1950s (two in 1950 and one in 1954). Two similar (but not identical) cars, SP 5044-45, were rebuilt in 1954 from 77-foot dining cars. The five cars operated on the San Joaquin Daylight and Owl (and occasionally other trains) until the mid-1960s when the SP received 17 new lightweight baggage-mail cars. 4. This was one of the second group of 100 economy baggage cars, SP 6701-6800, delivered to the SP between April and July of 1962.

5. An 80-foot, ex-baggage-horse car from a group of cars built in 1936-37. Some cars from this class were rebuilt with modernized doors with large, single windows. Three cars were rebuilt into baggage-mail cars (see Photo #3).

6. This was one of the first group of 100 economy baggage cars, SP 6601-6700, delivered to the SP between December, 1959 and December, 1960.

7. I was primarily interested in the former passenger cars so didn't bother to photograph the other cars. Here's a photo showing the cars on either side of the baggage-mail car (see Photo 1).

8. Here's a partial close-up view of the PFE reefer (second car from right in Photo 1).

9. Here's a partial close-up view of the two water cars (fourth and fifth cars from right in Photo 1).
