Old Atchisonians Speak Out

Hey Jack, what about Nuways  (Maid Rite ?) next door to the theater; I can't remember if it was there in '52, but it was sure there right after that.  Also, what about Moody's; remember the Zip Burger, I can almost taste it now.  I also remember the Wagon Wheel across the bridge and what about Randall's Steakhouse over on Sugar Lake. And, Thompson's restaurant also.  As far as the resturants up there, I really can't  think of anything special about them, per se, but I did love those Moody zip burgers!!  I guess since I left in '52, I would have the same memory of the places like you guys did growing on up there.  Gene Dolginoff

Ya'll forgot about Montezuma's chili parlor and Federson's pool hall had a good working mans lunch too. Then there was some resturant out by the
Hill Top, can't think of that name.  Maid Rites, they were the greatest.  Wish that could be had again today.       Mike Munson

Has everyone forgotten the Maid Rite.  5 cent coffee a good sanwitch, pinball machines and a lot of friends. I remember all of the fun I had there.  How some of us  would hurry there to eat our
lunch during our Jr. High years. I remember going to the drug store and having the best BLT's  -  Cochrans had a resterant. I think it was on 4 th but I might be wrong.  I know they always had a good meal there.  (They had some sons that were a little older than we were that were good basket ball players) I never ate lunch there.  Dorothy Wyncoop's mother had a Restaurant down
town on one of the side streets.  She always had
good food.  There was a bowling place between 14th and 15th on Main that had good bbq ribs.  Never ate a school lunch there.  Every one knows how I loved the chocolate malted ice cream (Frosties) at Millers Drug Store.    I also liked to go to the A&W.  but never during school time.
