She Devils History
2000-2001 ACHA Womens Division Nationals Runner-Up
The ASU She Devils, the university's only women's ice hockey program, was instituted at the beginning of Spring 1998 semester by Psychology graduate student, Suzie Lehman (Khalil) and her husband, Coach James Khalil. The grassroots program was welcomed with incredible numbers of ASU students interested in learning to play ice hockey. In the club's first year of existence, over fifty female students showed up to three hour-and-a-half practices each week and took part in numerous off-ice conditioning sessions, charity and volunteer events, and team fundraisers.

Dedicated coaches and players have earned the She Devils tournament titles; i.e., Las Vegas Women's Invitational Intermediate Division Champions (2000), ACHA Women's Division National Championship Runner-up (Missouri 2001), as well as individual titles such as: ACHA Women's Division Player of the Year (Jen Horton 2001), and three ACHA National Championship All Tournament Players (Jen Horton, Lindsey Washburn, and Gayle Shalloo 2001). In the six years since the start of the She Devils, the team has only become more competitive on the ice, more involved in both the ASU and Phoenix community, and more sought out by prospective student athletes wanting to have the best of both worlds for their college experience, warm weather, and cool hockey team.
