Fungus Nails

Fungus nails are a very difficult problem to treat and cure.  There are many different medications, both topical and oral, to treat this condition.  The general rule for treatment is about one full year to obtain a cure.  However, you may see a difference in 3-6 months with treatment.

About 1 in 5 adults have fungus infection of the feet or skin.  The fungus nail frequently appears to be a very thick; brittle discolored, and yellows looking toenail.  There is frequently pain when the nail presses on the shoe.   Fungus nails are caused by fungi, which grow and spread in a dark, moist area.  The fungus enters from the tip on the toenail and works its way back to the nail cuticle.  The infection causes a buildup of keratin (thick material under the nail), raising it and causing the discoloration.  If left untreated the fungus can spread to other toenails.
