I showed off some of my pictures to friends at work, and they all provided positive comments.
However, once I told them that I cloned out an obscene phrase in one of the pictures, he wrote, and I quote: "My image of you as a photographer just plummeted, using Photoshop." With a sad emoticon at the end. I can't please everyone, and I never intended to. I take pictures because A) I enjoy the process, including post-processing, and B) It makes purdy desktops. I don't know, I used to be against digital manipulation, but seeing the after results of so many "good" photos, I come to realize it's dang near impossible for me to take an amazing picture straight out of the camera. There are certain things I can do without Photopshop. I could carry around an array of lens filters, and twist them on as I see fit. I can learn some photo-development skills, rent a dark room, and spend countless amount of time in there to burn/dodge my shots. I could, but I won't. Laziness is a large part of it. Digital photography and PS was invented for lazy guys like me. I admit that I probably wouldn't enjoy photography as much if I had to work hard to make the perfect shot right out of the camera. It just wouldn't be me. I wouldn't set up a darkroom in the basement to develop my own photographs - too time consuming. ....The poo story entry has a lot of spelling errors. |
