What is quality?
We know what the absence of quality is. When a fruit vendor sells nothing but rotting, smelly fruit for example, we say, "That's not quality produce." We know how to look for it most of the time. When we buy furniture, we sit, prod, fondle, slide, and in some case, even lie down to make sure it feels good. We then say, "Hmm, this feels like quality material." But what exactly is quality? Can we define "quality" by a standard? Yes, I know there's ISO 900X standards, etc, but they are just procedural standards that when followed, are perceived to be of quality. But is it? I don't know, I don't know enough about the ISO standards to argue here. All I'm saying is that at the end of the say, I don't know what quality is. ....And I don't know what I'm writing here, so full stop. |
