in other news, check out this absolutely retarded customer service correspondance i had to endure at work. stupid lady customer in bold, my responses in italics. oh, background info first: these people ordered last friday not long after midnight. they insisted they ordered on thursday, but either way what do they expect, that theres gnomes working around the clock processing orders? anyway, here it is:

We placed a order thursday night and paid $14.40 for shipping with the thought that the 2 day shipping would get our package here in 2 days. We went to check our shipment and it is expected to make it here on the 20th. I am at fault for not reading more closely the (2-BUSINESS days) portion. Today is the 17th and if it was ordered on the 15th, then the 20th is not the 2 day service. I have heard only good things about your company, and when I ordered I did not know that I was going to be the first person with a bad report. I will not order from you again. If you are going to charge this much for shipping you really should make sure the (2-BUSINESS DAYS) is actually 2 business days instead of 2 days after the date it leaves.

Please note that your order was placed on Friday, 9/16, making 9/20 the correct delivery date for 2 business day shipping. Please let us know if you have any further questions or concerns, thanks!

No, I do not need to look at your help page because I will not be doing any more business with you. If it shipped on Friday wouldn't the expected delivery date be Today instead of Tomorrow.

Business days are commonly defined as Monday thru Fridays, so two business days from Friday is Tuesday. We can pretty much guarantee that you would run into this same situation with any other online store.

The school has started a week, other than the lecture come out to be a bit boring and the Uni life is a bit BUZZZZZZY , everything is fine !!!

For the camera geeks. Remember I mentioned trap focusing for the D70? here's how it's done.

TRICK: you can get most AF Nikon cameras to wait and release the shutter only when an object has moved into a preset focus distance if you set the AE-L/AF-L button to AF ON (set in a custom function) and then keep the shutter pressed all the way down while NOT pressing the AE-L/AF-L button. This is called Trap Focus. How does this trick work? Presuming you have the camera set to AF-S mode the camera won't shoot until it thinks the subject is in focus. By setting the AE-L/AF-L button to AF-ON the camera won't focus itself unless you press that button. If you don't press the AF button the camera has to wait for the subject to move and when the "in focus" dot lights up the camera will shoot so long as you've been holding the shutter button all the way down. This trick works so long as you have the camera and lens set to AF-S mode and keep holding the shutter all the way down. If you set the camera to manual focus or touch the focus ring on an AF-s lens while holding down the shutter it will shoot at the wrong time. It's a primitive hack and I doubt it's smart enough to predict subject motion for good results photographing something like horses jumping over a fixed object, but worth a try. It also doesn't work if the subject is moving so fast that the camera doesn't notice it's in focus as the object flies by. Of course you need to prefocus the lens where you want it while not holding the shutter down.

Justin, I'm impressed that you bothered to read my review. :P I don't write as well as you, so I'm honoured that you laboured through it.

Secondly, I did get the standard 1 yr warranty I believe. Didn't know that it would be serviced. I'm sure I've read on various forums that Dell had denied service. Maybe the lady over the line just said it to get you off their back? Haha, dunno.

Anyway, let's hope I don't need the warranty anytime soon.

eric, i actually read your whole review. first off, you do have warranty. even if all you went for is the 90-day basic one. when i purchased the laptop for dad, i specifically asked how warranty works out of the country. the agent said that it is still valid and can be serviced at ANY local dell joint. (i asked specifically about hk and she said that it would still work there.) secondly, the printer comes separately. if you look at the billing (at least it was this way with mine), there are 2 items charged. one, based on the amount, is for the laptop (which came with free shipping). the second, a much smaller amount, is for the printer upgrade + shipping. i suspect that the two items ship completely separately, as asinine an idea as that is.

Lawrence, can you let me know what you have (or dont have) when it comes to bedding stuff? i guess being on bikes we cant exactly bring our own sleeping bags and pillows and such. i can maybe manage a blanket or pillow, but definitely not both. maybe you can give me/us a ride and we can buy some cheap blankets or what not and you can just keep them for future guests? ill also try to look for you on yahoo messenger, since i should probably let the other guys know by tomorrow.

Duh tell your friends they'd be gibbons not to stay for free. Our house stuff ends way before 10 so everything should be pretty clear, plus I already told everyone you guys are coming.

Sat is mostly free for me but I expect I'll be at work from 11-2 or so (hopefully shorter) so let me know what kinds of stuff you wanted to do booo.
