that works for me. everybody's welcome at my place at any time. (even when i'm not there.) as mentioned, i'm on call this weekend which means i might have to work at any point from friday 2330 to monday 2245. hopefully, if i do get called in, it will be earlier on in the weekend.

eric, do you know any travel agents? dad is looking for plane tickets to toronto and i'm not finding any stellar deals...

I was thinking along these lines.

Leave Toronto at 10-11pm, drive all night, get to your house by 9am. Coincide with you having to wake up for work, then as you leave, we'll arrive to sleep. We hang out until Sunday after church, then drive up to visit justin for the night. Come back Monday morning, drop yous off, and then head back home.

I think it sounds stupid having typed that. Lisa is NOT hot on the idea of driving at night. Probably won't be able to convince her. We'll see.

ill be working friday 9-6 (give or take 30 minutes) so if you want to take the opportunity to swing by Justin's friday til saturday, thatd work. plus i have a wedding to go to on saturday, altho im only going to the ceremony so ill be gone for like 2 hours max. the rest of the weekend is open for me. as for group games i have star wars trivial pursuit (classic trilogy only, dont worry) and lord of the rings trivial pursuit. oh yeah, and scrabble. ill buy a few decks of cards too.

dan/ivan: can you please get me the current copy of Newsweek titled "Spirituality in America"? Lisa asked.

I'll be down during labor day weekend. Tentative play is that I drive down Thursday after work, travel all night and arrive Friday morning. Dan when are you going to work?

Lisa and I will probably do our own thing until you guys get off work. maybe we can drive to Justin's house friday night and hang out until Saturday? Sunday Lisa wants to visit WillCreek church for service. She and I will leave Monday afternoon.

That's our plan so far, let's see how that flies?

Oh. One last thing. Lisa and I both request we don't stare at the laptop all day long, so let's bring some card games, etc and we'll do some group stuff? Please??

What laptop is Dad getting exactly? Can you post specs? Have you bought it yet? Don't!! I'm going to try to convince him that he can get a better laptop for a better deal. 12.1 inch screen is not going to be much good for him at his age. And it's MUCH too small to really surf the web. He needs at LEAST 14.1, and even then that's too small. I can get a Dell 600M P4M 1.6GHz, 64meg ATI grfx card, 1GB ram, 60GB HDD, with free dell printer, and a carrying case for $917 US b4 shipping! It's under 5lb, so weight shouldn't be an issue.

the Dell 700m is small, but still 4lb, and it's much too small for much good, besides, the keyboard is HORRIBLE. I've read many reviews about it, it's gay. the slash/? key is halfsize..... GHEY!

If he's ordered it, and hasn't ship, tell him to stop.

not sure where my previous post went, but rest assured i didnt post up a blank entry on purpose. actually it makes sense now because i had a bit of trouble posting on my own blog shortly afterwards. id write up a relatively big entry, hit publish, and it would come up blank. didnt occur to me to check if the same thing happened here, which it did apparently. anyway...

i just said something to the effect of that date is doable for me, and that whoevers going should indeed stay over at my place on the friday before. no sense in waking up earlier than you need to, right?

Duh, how's Aug 20-21 for a modest random drive? What I was thinking is that if we leave early enough (9 or 10 am) we can head flat out for 2 hours to the border of Iowa, then start random driving. If possible, we can go Friday to Dan's, stay the night, then head out in the morning. But maybe that's asking for too much time?
