thanks for the invite, but this weekend's plans have me locked in the area as well. i decided to bite the bullet and finish all painting/installations/whatever at my place by this week, and it may bleed into saturday anyway. *yawn*
Hey, all. Just popping in to say hi to everybody! Daniel, cool SF photos. Glow-in-the-dark mini golf looks like a like of fun, but then I'm a sucker for mini golf anyway. The pad thai looks delish. Lawrence, Taste sounds neat, but Labor Day weekend's pretty much booked for me. Have fun if you go. Hey, does your lab have psychotic mice? Monday, August 30
Taste of Madison is this weekend (4-5), if anyone is interested. It's the same as Taste of Chicago but about 10x smaller. Still a lot of good food and fun though.
arg, not only am i back from the west coast but im also sitting at work on a monday morning. anyway, a pathetically short account of my trip can be found at my blog/xanga/whatever. i guess i could have just reposted it here, but im lazy. oh, and tired. Friday, August 27

i haven't had a chance to play around with the 10D, but i would recommend the D70. for me, it was a tossup between the two as well and i ended up going nikon because they're better at lense compatibility (for instance, i can use a 70-200mm zoom/macro from the late 70's) while canon sort of lacks in that department. however, if you can get a good deal on the 10D, i'd say go for it (assuming you don't have any nikon lenses). as for me, i got my D70 + two lenses (18-50mm, 55-200mm) for a hair under US$1,100. cousins. I have a chance at grabbing a very lightly used Canon D10 d-slr for a reasonable price (Not super cheap, but good. We haven't discussed figures yet, but I'm sure it'll be fair). Should I rather just invest that and get myself the D20? Or get a D70 for that price?? Need some feedback. Here are the cameras side-by-side. LINKY POO Friday, August 20
been super busy this past week catching up on "house work" (condowork?). in addition to the neverending cleaning up of the seemingly self-generating mess, i also painted a couple more walls (which took the better part of 5 hours, including prep and cleanup), patched a few holes in the wall, assembled another lamp, and put up some more track lighting earlier this evening. doing the lighting was more difficult than it needed to be because the only height-boosting device i had on hand was a folding chair, so needless to say my arms got tired pretty quickly. i hope its not TOO crooked, as i relied on just a tape measure, a few pieces of masking tape, and a yoyo to determine its positioning. im letting Iris have a sleepover at my place tomorrow, so i sort of "need" to get everything finished off beforehand. still got more work to do before its presentable, but id say the more difficult stuff is out of the way at least. anyway, i ramble when im tired, so i guess thats my cue. zzzzzzzzzzzzz Thursday, August 19
Larry, what an odd decision. I would rather have my computer on than TV. I prefer pulling entertainment than being pushed to me.
justin, don't be that lazy, use imagestation.com It's easy, free, drag&drop file xfer, and best of all, it resizes for free. What's not to love. Taking pix is pointless if you dn't share.
I've decided not to set up my computer in my new place. Not only is there no room for it, but I feel liberated without it. I'm getting a lot of reading and excercise done now. So anyways, that means no IM for at least the next 5 months, maybe longer. Other than email, Blogger is my remaining means of internet communication with you guys, so (cousin) check in. Wednesday, August 18
Ofoto is free and takes a few minutes to upload pics. For resizing, I stumbled on a way to do it. I open them up in MS Paint and hit save. It automatically shrinks the size of the file to 1/4 and the dimensions too I think. Just make sure you back up your originals first. Tuesday, August 17
yeah, i brought my camera. don't have anywhere to put pictures up so i just have them on my computer. i also don' really have time to crop/resize everything so i guess you're just going to have to wait. i'll leave them on my camera or something so i can show you this weekend if you really want to see... Saturday, August 14
I put my pics up on ofoto.com. http://www.ofoto.com/BrowsePhotos.jsp?&collid=263741345105 Dan, I can wait for when you get dsl. Just put them somewhere where only we can see it boo. Thursday, August 12
oh well, toronto is probably out for me as well. it was a nice idea while it lasted. cant post pics over dialup. if you want, i can just mail you a copy of them all. im not too crazy with how most of my pics turned out, so id rather not post them all on my gallery. blah. stupid construction woke me up early this morning so im in zombie mood. gotta sleep. Wednesday, August 11
I checked RV prices at cruiseamerica.com A 3 day, 1000 mile trip would cost about $600. So that idea is probably out. Oh well, maybe a van or something...
Dug, nice pictures Dan, boooo! If you can put all of them up somewhere, I'd like to see everything. I haven't taken my camera out of the car yet, so I'll be u/l them sometime in the future. Can't make Sept. Oh well, next time. Maybe our next (RV-led) random trip will lead there. Oh and post the Resident Evil pic somewhere public. How did you get the V? Tuesday, August 10
toronto sept 3-6, anyone? tentative plans: fly to rochester, NY, take the breeze to toronto, and watch some motorcycle races! actually, not even positive i can do this yet, but something to think about in case it does unfold. now if youll excuse me, im going to go wet my pants now. Monday, August 9
Thursday, August 5
tentatively ill most likely arrive in madison sometime around 10, no later than midnight. im still debating whether or not i should leave right after work or go home afterwards to rest up a little bit first. i have no reason to stall other than not wanting fall asleep at the wheel on the way up. ok, the rest we'll talk about when i get there i guess.
yeah, i'm coming. i'll probably stay at daniel's place on friday night, just because i probably won't have a chance to see him all weekend. but i'll go on saturday for sure. Wednesday, August 4
Duh ok cool. Have you heard from Justin? I haven't seen him on AIM in like a week. Let me know when you're coming Friday because I might have to a help a friend move some furniture, but it won't take too long (and isn't terribly likely anyways).
ok, friday it is. as for our departure time, lets push for 10 please :D i get about 5 to 6 hours a night, and even then its not continuous sleep. the last time i was in bed for 8 hours was about 5 1/2 weeks ago. Monday, August 2
Early means 9-10. I sleep like 8 hours a night. Except recently, when I've been playing computer games more. Oh well. Coming on Friday is totally up to you guys. I just thought it'd be more fun. You've never gotten the chance to sleep over at my place before, duh. And I meant that having to wake up at 6, then driving 3 hours up to Madison may make you tired for the trip regardless of how much sleep you got the night before.
how early do you mean by "early"? regardless of where i am, i hope to get more than 6 hours of sleep, something i havent been able to do for quite some time. i know for some ppl its enough, but my stamina sucks. if its too early then ill leave friday after work.
Well the only reason I suggested Friday was so that we could leave earlier Saturday and be well-rested for it. Wouldn't be any good if we fell asleep on the trip. I have a spare bed for now and a couch, so both of you could sleep here (may need to bring a sheet, I don't have any). Justin coming for sure? Sunday, August 1
