I thought it was a salute for the death of smoue.

Oh well.

Thursday, October 30
Lawrence: it was at a friend's housewarming party. they managed to trick one guy into showing up in his spartacus costume (it wasnt a halloween party) and a few of us put it on for fun duh.

Wednesday, October 29
Duh! What's that for Dan? Boooo.

Monday, October 27
a pic from the weekend: we who are about to die, salute you!

Sunday, October 26
Justin, at least now you wont feel as bad when the trap kills him.

Saturday, October 25
i agree. im not really "saving" up for a camera at the moment, just that theres suddenly a digital slr within my reach and its certainly grabbed my attention, to say the least. but alas, i do not make a living off photography so theres no way i can really justify having one at the moment. occasionally i even ask myself why i spent $400+ on a powershot G2. dont get me wrong, i love the camera but seems like a lot of money spent on a "toy".

anyway, today marks the first day of condo/loft hunting. actually, drop the condo part, im all for lofts. checked out a few nice converted duplexes. needless to say, they are all out of my price range, but boy were they nice. my early "shopping" ventures will probably be mainly to check out whats out there, since im still very new to this whole home buying thing. another option im looking into is buying an old abandoned building with a couple friends and tearing down/renovating the inside into our own separate living units, and sell off the 4th unit. stopped by there too, and broke inside thru a loose boarded up doorway. a bit too dark to see much, but just trying to get a feel of the space.

sorry, not too interesting of a post. just a quick boring update i guess.

Dan, I hear you man, altho the cheapest price so far I've found is $702 US online. That's before any lenses of course.

I don't know, it sounds appealing. If nothing else, a very decent (understatement) D-SLR that is light. Their new EF-S system is very light, and offers a good compromise between usability/portability and quality.

Like I always said, digital cameras are advancing at such an amazing rate, there's no point in "wanting" a camera and saving $ for it. By the time you've got the cash, there's something better out there. So one must keep ones mind open.

If I was going to drop the $ right now, it'd be the Rebel. On paper, I also like the Fujifilm S2Pro, only b/c my first camera was a Fujifilm and I'm partial to the brandname.... Canon is a little too common for my sake I guess :P I hate being "part of the big crowd."

Weird huh?

Thursday, October 23
Eric, kinda funny, ive been looking into that same exact camera myself. had to force myself to shoot the idea down tho. i just kept repeating to myself "youre gonna spend $1k on a camera?? duh!!" so for now thats out the window.

now i just gotta fight off the laptop urge...

Wednesday, October 22
this is kinda old but still funny.

gangsta barney

this is beyond wrong

http://mirrored.flabber.nl/britney.lookalike

dangit, left my glasses at work. that means 2 things: 1) i have to work the remainder of the evening with contacts in my eyes, which i absolutely hate because my eyes get pretty dried up around this time and 2) i have to drive blind to work tomorrow because my eyes are usually too swollen from an unrestful night's rest to put contacts in. argh!

Monday, October 20
yodaslap? Oh yeah? Comment thing busted huh? OH well, it's outta my hands. :)

All the pix were done around July 8/95 I believe. There should be a date in one of the pix. (There is, the Sagat pic had it)

The poor thing was that the paper I drew it on weren't made for coloured pencils. I believe they were water-color paper or something.... maybe for "guash" (I could never spell that type of paint, only know how to use it.) :P

I cannot believe those pix were 8 yrs old. I still remember drawing them while I was living downtown, in front of the TV, on a little fold-away coffee tray/table thingy.

They're not as good as I remebered them to be, gosh, did I really think I was going to art school w/ those? Yeah, I did.

i'm a big fan of your coloured zangrief picture. how old are these?

Eric, something wrong with your comments thing. even after posting/refreshing, the comments count remains at 0. but yeah, nice wedding pic, and SF2 drawings. i didnt know you were so nerdy. in a cool way of course. *snicker*

fell asleep yesterday late afternoon/early evening so now my sleep schedule is all messed up. what a way to start off the week...

Sunday, October 19
btw, eric, i finally remembered who sings the cover of "come on eileen." it's save ferris, not no doubt. i've been meaning to tell you except i always forget.

im not 12 anymore?

oh uh yeah, Justin is here, although i still think he shouldve come earlier. its no fun when a visit lasts only 17 hours. ok actually hes not here here... hes in the shower. bwahahahahaha

heading downtown soon, hopefully.

if you care to visit milwaukee, you can stay at my place too. i'm in chicago now visiting dan and ivan for the day. ivan has a nice new computer and gizmo is shy.

Saturday, October 18
It's the shirt, it's 100% the shirt. :D

You guys are so nice, I dunno yet. When I decide what I'll do, I'll see. Maybe I'll take a week and just chill at everyone's place accordingly. Dunno.

Lawrence, don't worry, I still think I'm 12 yrs old as well.

Friday, October 17
That's true, you look pretty buff there Eric... or is the shirt? I forgot to say that my place should be free too, if you don't mind the couch (it's brand new, but doesn't pull out or anything).

Good to hear that Dan's thinking of moving out. Though I still think of us as being 12.

All I hear all day at work is about the Cubs. Everyone knows I'm a big fan. But to comfort myself, I keep reminding me that it was just coincidence I was born in Chicago. On the other hand, I do want to kill that fan. You know, two days after it happened, the movie rights for "Fan Interference" starring Kevin James (Queen of Spades) was already signed? Mercenary.

Thursday, October 16
man, annoying.

Everyone is asking if the pic of Robin and I is my GF. hahaha. That's some sick stuff man!!

I shouldn't use that as my friendster pic huh?

But I look good. :P

nope, no turkey for me. there's always american thanksgiving next month. (most people here don't realize--or even care--that it was thanksgiving last weekend.) some of my co-workers, pitying me for having to work that day, have offered to give me some of their leftovers. i'll take free food any day. especially free holiday food.

ok, time for class now. 2h50m had never seemed so long before i started school...

justin, no turkey. You?

While I'm not a fan of non-home town teams, I too felt bad that the cubbies got bumped. I'm a underdog kinda guy too.

Now you know the Toronto mantra, "there's always next yr."

i never thought i was capable of feeling sad because of a sport, but tonight i was somewhat proven wrong. i wouldnt even go as far as calling myself a fair weather cubs fan, because normally i am relatively indifferent towards professional sports in general (except yao ming), but when that final fly ball was caught i could feel my heart sink. maybe its not so much the cubs, but just cuz its a chicago team but then again, the bulls winning all those championships back in the 90's didnt seem to phase me much, so i dunno. all i know is i was on the verge of seeing history in the making, ready to join in the mass victory riot after game 6. instead i became just another faceless witness of the cubs' continuing losing streak.

dont wanna think about it anymore. time for bed.

Wednesday, October 15
what Justin and Lawrence said. i didnt think they would BOTH beat me to posting, let alone even one of them. haha.

Eric - well i dont want to count my chickens before they hatch, but i plan/hope to be moved into a condo downtown sometime during the winter so if you dont mind cramming into a smallish place youre more than welcome to crash there. in the somewhat likely event that ill still be at home, im sure my parents would more than happy with you staying with us.

still recovering from last night's game....

btw, happy belated thanksgiving, everyone. did you get any turkey, eric?

Hey that's great that you met Roberta. Yeah let us know when you come down, I'll drop whatever not-actually-cancer-curing stuff I happen to be doing and run to wherever you end up. Speaking of card games that take all night, has anyone ever played the Great Dalmuti? It's fun at first, then extremely boring.

Justin: No, her friends are rather boring, but I expected as much from a church group. :P

Nah, it was good clean fun. I got to hang out w/ her for a lot of the food sessions. I felt bad b/c they wouldn't let me pay for anything, but they were nice enough to teach me the boring card game "Screwy Louie".

I'm not much for games that take a whole night to finish one game. My attention span doesn't last that long. Sorry Robin, I had to tell the truth.

Otherwise, I couldn't make it for their trip to Niagara on the Lake. I'm terrible with car trips, and 2 hrs in traffic in a car without me driving is unbearable. Again, that attention span thing.

Anyhoo, I'm pretty set on trying to make it down to the States for a week next yr, anyone wanna take me in?

Robin, since you don't chk my page,

It's okay I put that on my site?

it's good to see that roberta and eric got to meet up in toronto. how was it? do anything interesting?

Tuesday, October 14
ah yes, my webcam is sitting right here as well, but its not plugged in at the moment. i need more usb ports...

anyway, nothing terribly exciting to post about, other than im planning a little adventure tomorrow evening. im ducking out of work early (ok ok, so in reality im just skipping lunch break) to head up to the city to join in the mosh pit at wrigley field. i think/hope my shoulder can take a little bit of abuse by now, and uh, i guess i hope i dont get crushed to death? hehe. anyway, that should be kinda fun. i think.

ok, time for bed.

Monday, October 13
I have a webcam!

Get Yahoo messenger and then you can probably see me.

I'm "thelosir"

fun. I don't normally turn it on, but you never know. :D

Saturday, October 11
i need sleep.

Dan I was not the main photographer. Just a guy w/a digicam.

If you want to see some nice digi cam shots of their wedding, it's at lienneandwilson.com

I hope to never have to marry. 'nuff said.

Friday, October 10
well i guess the TO idea is out the window for me. oh well, it was worth the try and fun to think about while it lasted i guess. it wouldve been too crazy anyway. its been a long week and i dont particularly care for long car rides.

Eric, ever consider coming to chicago sometime? :-D

Thursday, October 9
Hey Daniel, Eric, it'd be great if we can meet. I just sent mail to Eric saying we're playing it all by ear but if Saturday looks likely for Daniel then I'll try to see what I can do Sat. I sent Eric my cell phone and hotel info (sorry Dan, don't have your e-mail with me). Probably try to meet up for dinner or something? We're hitting Niagara Falls probably on Sat. Of course y'all are welcome to join us there too!

"jedi" or "council"?

anyway, yeah i saw the pics when you first posted them, but it was only a limited selection compared to the link below. i mustve forgotten to comment. i especially liked this one. ive tried similar shots before (at a race track tho, not weddings) and theyre pretty fun. btw thats a really nice church. so were you the main photographer?

so whens it your turn?

Dan, seriously, get over the camera thing. You've been commanded by the Jedi Council. (HOw do you spell that word?? Can't believe I don't know it)

If I had the $, I'd definintely spring for a newer camera, but I'm still quite happy and satisfied w/ my present set up for the most part.

Have you seen the pix I took of my friend's wedding?

LINK

It's decent.

Wednesday, October 8
well, the TO idea isnt set in stone. the ppl id be going with arent 100% sure, and i dont know him quite well enough to ask him to get back to me asap. we'll be driving so at best we'd have a decent chunk of saturday to spend in TO. i guess not too much more to say at the moment about that til i find out more details...

yeah before 2 weekends ago i havent really touched my camera since... i wanna say, half a year ago? i mean, ive picked it up here and there but never to shoot pictures for the sake of shooting pictures. Eric, you should get a camera with manual controls. it makes a huge difference, giving you much more control beyond just simply framing/composing the shot. anyway, thats enough for now. the topic of cameras always gives me an overwhelming sense of guilt whenever i talk to you about it, heh.

Dan, I saw your new pix, ver nicely done. I wish I had the gumption (or the talent) to do such a thing. I've not used my camera for a while now.

It's a long weekend in T. for me, so if you guys came up, it would be awesome!

In my hyper state, I was so eager that I posted my cell #. Not the smartest thing to do.

But Dan, if you can come up, please do so as well. I can spend all day w/ you if necessary. :P

Tuesday, October 7
interesting... suddenly i sort of have the option of heading up to toronto this weekend as well. not sure how times would coordinate, but if i go id be leaving sometime friday night, and get home by sunday evening. think it would be worthwhile to try meeting up?

I'll say wow too, yeah I haven't checked in a long time. I'd like to go up to TO too, but my prelims are coming up. I'm not even sure I can go to the program retreat here in Wisconsin.

Good to hear everyone's doing well, especially since we haven't heard from Justin in what seems like years.

I hate to admit I don't read anyone's blogs (not just cousins, but anyone's) anymore, probably because I don't even update my own. Kind of takes you out of the community.

I've been taken with Cubs fever of course, having been a fan now for a decade. Also, I still ask that everyone should watch Ed (I know, he's the goofy beer guy to Eric), but I've been downloading old episodes and watching the new season. Really, give it a try (again, maybe).

wow, there hasnt been this much commotion on cc in a while, and i do mean that in the best way possible.

Roberta, if Eric himself doesnt reach you first, ill contact you and let you know since i sort of hesitate posting his email address here (although he posted his phone #??? shrug). wow, road trip to TO... wish i had that kind of time :'(

i also took a walk this past weekend too, but not for any particular cause other than taking pictures. i know some/most/whatever of you already saw them, but heres the link in case you dont know of my personal blog. anyway, i ended up walking from chinatown to the borders near the john hancock building. i guess youd have to somewhat know the downtown chicago area to have an idea of how far it is, but it took me about an hour and a half, including a few small detours. the last time i walked this much was in italy.

anyway, went off on a tangent there. oh and i should probably get back to work too.

What's Eric's e-mail address, ya'll? (Unless it's Eric himself reading this). I just figure it'd be safer e-mailing directly in case he happens not to stop in cousincheck for a while (says the person who sometimes doesn't stop in cousincheck for a while).

10k...a little over 6 miles...not bad. Good cause! Where are you working, Justin, did I miss that?

Last Friday we had a church social at the house of a couple I don't know very well...Anyway, as a hobby the guy breeds lovebirds and sells them when they're old enough (starting price: $60, more if they're a rare color!). (If you aren't familiar with lovebirds, look here.) He hand tames them from birth and and they're adorable. How many parties do you go to where you wind up with a small group of people sitting in somebody's den each holding a little birdie...awwww.

OMG Roberta! Are you coming up for real? If you are, and you don't find me, I will be seriously put out! I will abort any and all plans just to catch up with you, even if it doesn't last more than 5 minutes!

C A L L M E

I will have my phone on 24/7.

I havne't seen you in like 10 yrs plus! OMG!!!!

CALL ME
CALL ME
CALL ME
CALL ME

really looking forward to it. I'll even come with you to Niagara if possible. (Can we hit the casino? :D)

oh wait, it's a church group.

Monday, October 6
the walk went fine. we ended up doing the 10k walk... apparently very slowly because the food was almost all gone by the time we finished. but free food is free food. and it was all for a good cause.

What's "Starsky & Hutch," eh? Oh, just a late-70s buddy cop show that I admit to having been a fan of, with some embarrassment, for a few years. Fast cars, plainclothes cops, bellbottoms and guys named "Huggy Bear." Ah, the 70s. Oh wait, flares are back in style.

Justin, how'd the Walk go?

Hey...a group of us from my church are taking a road trip to Toronto this coming weekend (Oct. 10-12)! Don't know what the exact schedule is, but Eric, you going to be around? They're talking about going to the Asian Mall Fri. afternoon (is there only one?). Probably hitting Niagara on Sat.

Friday, October 3
i suppose i haven't made an appearance for a while so i will. most of my browsing fodder has already mostly been covered. and the sites that haven't been, are probably of no interest to anyone else anyway (e.g. The Toronto Star).

life of late has been very busy. i never thought school would be so much work. then i remember that school is supposed to be a lot of work. in fact, i pushed back graduation until the end of fall quarter next year because i've been so busy i had to drop a class this quarter. i wasn't looking forward to that class anyway. does anyone actually enjoy medical ethics? i'm sure even people who do probably would be turned off by it being an online class: asynchronous trivial discussion that's invariably inconclusive--and therefore pointless to me. BORING!!

other than that, i've officially started working first shift--that's 6:00am to 2:30pm in my case. some days i actually get to sleep in late and wake up 5:00am (instead of 4:30am) when my start time is 6:30am. i actually enjoyed work today. that's something i haven't been able to say in a long time. i know that feeling won't last, but it's better than nothing.

i need to go to bed now. i'm doing the "Walk for Diabetes" tomorrow morning. i'm so out of shape i don't know if i can even walk 5k. ok, this ends my brief excursion into your worlds. btw, i republished the site so now all the archives (through may 2001) are accessible.

oh boy... if you think youve seen it all, you obviously havent seen this
