thanks for the links Roberta. i read thru some of the hero stories last week, pretty interesting stuff. i especially admire the ppl who jumped into lakes and ponds to save other ppl esp since i have a fear of large bodies of water, which stems from my fear of sea monsters but uh i wont get into that. i know how to swim, but not sure if i can swim well enough to drag someone up to the surface with me. btw whats starsky & hutch? Hey all... Been kinda out of touch again...Got to stop doing that! I can't read any entries before 9/7. When I look at the archives, the latest posts come from July. Eh? My website's at home.intranet.org/~rkwong but I don't blog or anything so there's not much day-to-day. But you can look at my pages on Les Miserables, or if that's too dull, there's also some pages on "Starsky & Hutch." Don't laugh, my S&H page got a mention in Yahoo! Life magazine a couple years back. Ah, fame. My daily website read is www.cnn.com (must-read) www.theonering.net Uh, that's it. Though I'm also often at us.imdb.com (news and boxoffice reports) www.jabootu.com www.televisionwithoutpity.com groups.yahoo.com (sewing list...I'm sure you guys are big on that) www.nbc.com (Leno's "Headlines" archives) But the website I found today (through CNN) is the one I wanted to come here to mention: Carnegie Hero Fund, established "to recognize acts of outstanding civilian heroism throughout the United States and Canada." Some of the stories of heroism in here are just amazing. Ordinary joes who saw someone in help and went to help. Only brief details are given and so some of the stories sound very similar (pulling people from burning cars, saving them from drowning, etc.) but when you stop to think of the people who went through them...whew. Take a look, it's very inspiring. Wednesday, September 24
no sleep is about to do me in tomorrow if i dont get to bed soon. yoda: but dont we always kinda think that, whether subconsciously or otherwise? asiliat: speak for yourself, chump. i always have clever blog entries oozing out my ears and nose! Tuesday, September 23
Dan, freaky! Re: sometimes (but not always?), i wish i was a better writer. there are always some instances here and there where i cant quite express myself adequately with words, whether it be an attempt to being entertaining or otherwise. i guess you could say right now is one of those times. got tons to say but words fail me. i guess running on about 3 hours of sleep doesnt help either. at any rate, its been a looooong 24 hours. *sigh* I was just thinking the same thing last night when I was thinking about blogging a post. I was going to start w/ with the same sentiment - that I wish I was a man with words.... Weird. Tuesday, September 16
Eric, not sure if you were still collecting animotion pics, but heres one thats pretty cute nonetheless. ![]() Monday, September 15
ok this will probably only make sense to friendster users: wow how weird. i was looking thru some of the site suggestions and a_l_l_y's xanga was one i randomly picked to take a look. then today i logged onto friendster (yes i need to get out more) and the random "so and so is in your network" was none other than, yup, a_l_l_y. do you know her, Eric? shes 4 degrees away from me (friendster #268666 in case you wanted to look). anyway, sorry, kinda random post. back to work.
updated list: shyeyes.org littleyellowdifferent.com dooce.com dealuniversity.com madcanadian.com <- not so much anymore, since he hasn't updated since liek July 1st. um, um, um Roberta, Lawrence, please provide your URL so I can read you daily :) Sunday, September 14
I only read people's blogs and work on losir.com as well. :) here's an eclectic (the ones I remember) list of sites I read, in no particular order. www.rage3d.com theinquirer.net theregister.co.uk implosive.nu/a xanga.com/a_l_l_y vwvortex.com fireblades.org msn.com (since it's my homepage at work) ivanlo.hk.st yodaslap.losir.com geocities.com/jy1o
Eric, maybe you could let us in on what interesting sites the internet has to offer. surfing has long become a drag for me, so some cool new sites are certainly welcomed. all i ever do now is read ppl's blogs and work on DU. *yawn* i went to watch some drag racing today at the route 66 speedway (in case anyone's heard of or seen the movie Driven, it was filmed there). it was an interesting experience i guess, although im not sure how often id be willing to shell out $15 to watch a bunch of cars run the quarter mile. all i could think about was motorcycles. more specifically, my crashed one :'( should i go to bed now or just finish off the all-nighter? hmmmmmm Thursday, September 11
I apologize for not updating (or worse, even reading) this page as much as I should. I've been doing a LOT of hardcore surfing lately, and don't seem to have enuf time to actually reply to everyone. My bad. Justin, thanks for the memories. My only regret is that we didn't take any pix of our wild antics. ;) Wednesday, September 10

good question. Let me say this, there's no secret to be kept against the company. Since my primary net acs is from work, I'm sure they can (AND 100% they have) checked out my page one time or another. IT has gotten really anal, and were blocking a site called www.ill-pill.net, which was totally just a personal blog. Besides plenty people at work know about my site, and stuff like that gets around. So why do I refer to it only being "The Company"? Because frankly, I don't want to tie myself w/ my work. My views on what's going at work are mine alone. I don't speak on their behalf. I'm already fairly careful with what I can say about work, so what little I do say about it is deemed ambiguous. The nicks are there to keep people from being too embarassed. I know, it's kinda silly, but my pix are for my friends/family, and voyeurs I guess. I'm not too worried about much else. Thursday, September 4
question for Eric: on your blog, you go to great lengths to keep everyone and everything somewhat anonymous, e.g. giving ppl nicknames, referring to your employer as "the company", etc. however, at the same time your site is riddled with pictures of yourself, so wouldnt some bigshot at the company who accidentally stumbles onto your blog recognize your freakishly handsome visage and realize that its you? just wondering, as this thought just popped into my mind not 5 minutes ago :) Wednesday, September 3
I'm not doing anything, so it should be good. There are some people on my floor that might be interested in playing so we'll see. duh.
happy belated bday Eric. sorry, i suck at keeping track of bdays. dont even know my own parents' :( anyway, to make a long story short, [whats left of] my bike got vandalized while at the shop. they took responsibility for it and bought it off me for a decent amount of money (considering its a wrecked bike). they also waived all bills that i owed them plus it saves me towing money so i guess it somewhat works out, except now im left empty handed. now a motorcycle sits third behind a condo and car on my "big toys to get" list so you wont see me on two wheels for quite a while. ah well, thats what the lottery is for, right???
see you in a couple of days, eric. just let me know your plans and we can work around stuff. i didn't really have anything in mind since my other friends never got back to me. oh well. when was aunt yolanda's birthday? what are you doing 2 weeks from now, lawrence? i might be in madison. if you're still looking for mahjong players... Monday, September 1
Happy Birthday to Eric! Haha! Just got it in on time... at least here in Wisconsin. Also, happy anniversary to 4 aunt (say yee). |
