my heart's pounding. i just got back from my first motorcycle ride about 5 minutes ago. took the bike around the subdivision, top speed 25. wasnt quite as difficult as i thought, yet im scared out of my mind. first turn: to my dismay, i realized early on that turning the handlebars wasnt gonna cut it, so i took a short breath and leaned. i dont understand how those pros do it, with their knees on the ground and junk. also, trying to keep track of what all my hands and feet are supposed to be doing is way too much for a noob like me to think about. oh, and of course i never know what gear im in. oh well, i should be happy i didnt wipe out my first try. i think im done... i feel like ive already used up my supply of luck for today. ok well dont come home anytime soon then. parking the thing into the garage was scary enough. duh. my tentative plan, if nothing comes up... today: pick up learner's permit thursday: take care of title/license plate stuff friday: crash, i mean, try out the bike hopefully friday's "few showers" reported by weather.com wont interfere. that, or getting the bike down the driveway. *shiver*
Nice, Dan. I was just about to buy a bike too (a regular one, though), so I could finally get some excercise. You have to show me your skills next time I come home.
yes and no. my parents were fine with it up until i actually got it, then they flipped out.... then they were fine the next day. right now it has no license plate, its uninsured, and i have no license. vroom vroom! Tuesday, April 22
yeah, good job with the bike. Did your parents put up a fight? I know my did when I brought home a bike at the tender age of 19. (or was it 17, I can't recall). GO LEAFS GO Monday, April 21

supersoaking and paintballing is not to be compared, little one! bwahahahaha. also, itll cost $30-50. perhaps a bit much to drop on one morning/afternoon, but hardly qualifies as "outrageous". seeing McD's extra value meal prices shooting up beyond $4, now THATS outrageous >:O argh! Thursday, April 17
wow. its been awhile since i've posted eh? i'm currently sitting in my dorm. brain is fried and i have an exam tomorrow morning at 10. but i digress... in terms of the gun demo issue, i agree with Dan in saying that perhaps the church, as a more conservative body of people, would rather not be affiliated with something that could be perceived as liberal or possibly even "wrong." what's a TV? i'm sort of intrigued about this whole paintball thing. i think the main issue is cost because i know the fees are outrageous. why pay all that much money when i can just get a supersoaker and run around the backyard? i'm still debating whether or not i should go next time. ugh. head hurts. Friday, April 11
my take on "the gun thing" was just that perhaps Christians as a group tend to be more conservative, so i guess learning how to fire a potentially lethal weapon may not necessarily fall under that category. did people actually imply that it was wrong?? heh, people ride bikes to our church all the time. i guess it sorta depends. on what, i dont know. im tired. i dont watch tv, so i barely know what Ed is. im not even sure if i remember specifically hearing of it outside of reading about it on Lawrence's blog. Larry's blog. Lawrence... bah! and to think that about 19~20 years ago i had trouble refraining from calling you "Isaac". little did i know that it was only the beginning... ok enough of this. sleepy time. Oh yeah, that's right, the commercials. They only ran in Canada, so I didn't have to see him act like a gibbon. I got your CD Eric, for some reason I guess the front desk had been holding on to it for months and only told me about it yesterday. That was kind of weird.
As for the gun thing, I don't see what being a Christian has with learning how to use a handgun. I think shooting ranges are an acceptable form of entertainment, if done properly. It's not like it's yoga or "Hay Goan"....(You know, using inner energies to heal someone) It used to upset me that people thought I shouldn't ride my bike to church. I thought that was dumb. Obviously, if we do things that may cause other to stumble in their faith, then we should stop it. Still, I would think that we should at least educate the populace before they judge us. Go learn how to use a gun. I myself would LOVE to be able to own a handgun, but um, I can't.
Odd that you mention "Ed", as Lisa does indeed watch it when it's on. I however find it extremely boring. I can't get into it, and the main character, used to do commercials, stupid commercials at that. The punchline would be him looking at his dog, holding his brand of beer, screaming "If I wanted water, I'd ask for water." Maybe that's why I can't stand the show, because quite frankly, that commerical erked me lots. On top of that, it's boring. With a capital B. :D To each its own, I used to never miss Party of Five, and people thought I was a fruit. Wednesday, April 9
I might have mentioned this before, but does anyone else watch Ed? I started two years ago, but then dropped off, like most TV shows that I watch. But I got back into it again recently when I found a bunch of episodes online. I ended up buying the entire first season from someone on the internet, and I'll be sitting down to watch 18 hours straight when it arrives in the mail Friday. The season (and maybe series, unfortunately) finale is this Friday. If you haven't been watching, it won't mean much, but if you've seen at least a few episodes (any chance Lisa watches it Eric?), you shouldn't miss this one. It's gonna be good. I think they'll renew it though, since it's been winning its new time slot for the last couple weeks. Anyways, just thought I'd throw something up on the old Cousin Check. Thursday, April 3
Roberta, youre just filled with controversy, just like the average rapper. and i thought i was living on the edge for eating two things of yogurt in one sitting, as im doing now. *slurp* |
