[Ed: This was to be posted last night! I am taking great pains to rebuilt the post, so you better enjoy it!]
I have the strangest thoughts in the shower.
It all started with a friend asking me about home networking. The cheapest solution is wiring up the house with network cables. I came up with an ingenious solution. Run them through the house's central heat/air ducts.
Here's how I would do it:

1 mini RC car

1 mini flashlight

1 clothes button with diameter smaller than mini flash-light button

2 straws

1 Wireless webcam

some tape

Krazy glue

some string

scissors
Here's the assembly instruction:
1. Glue button onto the top of the car
2. Turn the flashlight upside down and glue the on/off switch and press it against the button until the flashlight is turned on
3. Wind tape around the car and flashlight to keep it lit
4. Take the two straws, measure the diameter of the house's ventilation duct
5. Cut the straws and glue it to the car, sticking out at the sides
6. Glue the wireless webcam to the car
7. Use the string and tie some around the spoiler of the car, and then the other end to the network cable
The webcam obviously need to be hooked up with a computer, so you can see the transmitted picture. The flashlight will give it light so that you can see where it's going once it's inside the ducts. The straws will keep the car from flipping over its side if one steers it up the cylidrical wall. Now, just drive the car and tow the network cable to the desired room. Voila, you can wire up your house without having to drill holes through walls.
....No need to thank me. The smile on your face is thanks enough.
