Roberta, Lawrence, Ivan.

Do you guys live at home or seperate address? Please send me email at work (or better yet, just reply to my email I sent out Friday) with your mailing address if you're NOT living at home.

Also, can you tell me what's your computer speed, and if you have a VCD/DVD Player. Thank you.

oh btw, im in milwaukee at jylo's now. he just corrected me in the previous post. that is all.

Thursday, October 24
well i think im pretty flexible as well, in terms of schedule. big issue is money, of course. i could conceivably save up enough, but id probably have nothing left so some help from parents would be welcomed.

man, im such a dummy. ive been manually making thumbnails this whole time, not knowing that ACDSee did it. oh well, ill look into it the next time i make a gallery. blah.

ok, getting late, i should head out off. (thanks jylo. duh.)

well let's gain some momentum for this Cousin-in-HK biz.

I need to know when everyone is free. I, of course is fairly flexible.... school kids aren't as, I suppose.

Actually, I think the hardest person to accomodate will be J.Lo, yeah? He's got the most hectic schedule from what I understand.

Anyway, that little imagestation thing isn't "smart". I wish it was. Anyhow, um, I have a copy of ACDSee 5.0 (or d/l from kazaa lite). W.a.r.e.z.e.d of course. Just do some virus scan first. It works great, and that HTML generator really, really rocks. I use it for almost all my locally hosted pix (well, locally being Geocities). :) Go see if you haven't b4.

duh, ill be in italy from 11/22 til 12/2. i might go up this weekend, but not sure yet. i guess we'll see...

anyway, i cant believe im still up. argh.... ill post something real later. Eric, ill look into the imagestation scam, thanks.

Duh, Eric, why were you calling us the clever ones? Modesty, I see...

Well, my schedule is pretty much set by my stupid experiments, but the cousins-in-HK sounds too good to pass up. It's too early to tell now, but I think if everyone else is in, I'd have to lean a lot towards yes. Of course, I need to ask my family since I don't really have the money yet to pay for it all myself.

Dan, are you going to come up sometime? I'm going home for Thanksgiving (or maybe earlier for Roberta's baptism on Nov. 11, not sure yet) and I might be going up to Michigan to visit a college friend on Nov. 17. Just so you don't come up here while I'm gone.

Nothing else new on the Lawrence front.

Here's a way to get virtually unlimited .jpg storage space on imagestation.com AND circumvent their must login to view pic policy.

1. Open imagestation account and upload pictures as normal.
2. Send link to self and view pictures
3. Create your html that views pictures as normal
4. As you view each picture (in its default window size without getting the big version....)
5. Right click picture in IE5/6 and select Properties
6. Note Address location. Drag, cut&paste onto your HTML code where img src=" " is located
7. Save everything, and publish.

Of course, you still have to make your own thumbnails. But you can simplify this option if you buy ACDSee, which has a nifty HTML picture-page generator. It will spit out HTML code as well as make thumbnails. I'd upload all the thumbs and the .htm onto tripod, and then paste the individual URLs pointing to imagestation pix.

Voila, you now have unlimited storage space not hampered by anything except for picture size restriction. It is a little more work (especially if you have a large # of pix to cut and paste their URL), but it's worth the hassle as long as no one needs logging in, IMO.

well, im up for it but i might have to depend on my parents for the funds to do so. this italy trip is gonna suck me dry, and its a bit too late to back out now. let me know if there are any further developments.

Anyone thought of going back to HK next yr? I'm looking at the Chinese New Years time frame. Can I get at least some of you wanting to go? It'll probably be our final farewell for Grandpa me thinks. As harsh a reality as that sounds..... He's 96.

If I can get some of the cousins back in HK together, that would be awesome! We ourselves need to catch up.

Inform your parents and ask them if they thought of going back next year. If we can get a collective decision here, I'll match everyone's time so we can all have a big gathering....

Maybe with so many school kids, Spring Break will be a better alternative?

Eric: no news as of yet. ill post as they come.

oh, in case anyone cares, the FT3 appears to be in working order. i still need to find a battery so i can make use of the light meter, but other than that, all systems go. havent been shooting nearly as much as id like, but then again im also restricted to night time shots for now, since i spend most of my conscious daylight hours sitting in front of this here computer. this past saturday was rainy and cloudy, and sunday, well... lets just say i wasnt awake for much of sunday.

speaking of saturday, i went to a chicagoland area yoyo club meeting. Eric, remember those guys you saw in those videos? well these guys at the meeting werent QUITE as good, but a heck of a lot closer to their level than ill ever be. i felt like an invalid, ashamed that i even had a yoyo tied around my finger. they were nice tho, and were kind enough to teach me a few simple beginners tricks. all in all it was a fun experience of course. at the very least, my interest in yoyoing has been reignited.

ok, time to go back to work. no witty outtro. sorry.

Monday, October 14
Roberta: love that Feng Shei ball thing. Of course, I had to ask someone who can do more than simple math to explain it to me, but um, aftewards, I got it pretty good.

Good work on the camera bud. Did fuji say anything? Get this... the new Fuji Finepix app for interfacing the camera and PC shot up to a hefty 67meg download. I wonder how big the install will be. Scary. It also went up a huge bunch of version #s. from 1.1 to 3.2..

3.0 was ~25 megs, 3.2 == 67! Neato

must be a lot of gullible rainbows out there.

update for Eric: your camera has been shipped out for inspection and estimate for cost of repairs. stand by.

last night i went downtown to try out my SLR for the first time. its an older model (Nikon FT3) so i gotta make sure its in working order. still need to buy a battery for the light meter, argh.

ok, dont have much else to say for now.

Hey all,

Considering that the basic yoyo move was a complete mystery to me for, like, over a quarter-century, I think of myself as quite accomplished by now. Look, I can get it to go up and down five times in a row! Usually! Next up on my list of stunts to learn...whistling!

Saw this description on a website that sells jewelry and crystals: "These Feng Shui balls have twice as many facets as regular lead glass balls and throw off tons of rainbows." Sounds nice, right, but if you scroll up the page, you see that the "regular lead glass balls" have, uh, no facets.

Thursday, October 3
Eric: argh, no response yet. i realized their customer service line is open later than most, so ill give em a call. still cant believe they ignored two of my emails. and no, automatic responses dont count. booooooooooo.

yeah, so now you realize how real yoyoing is eh? pretty crazy right?

Lawrence: i might be heading up to madison 2 weekends from now. updates to come.

Tuesday, October 1
yogurt boy: fanx for the pix man. THey rock.

So did Fujifilm finally replied or what? Don't sweat it. Like I told you, you don't have to rush the repair. Just get it done whenever.

I also saw the yoyo clips, OMG, they are too awesome. I think I gave up. I mean, trapeze.... geez
