i posted a picture of 2122 N Clark St. its on my blog, which is hosted by tripod, which doesnt let me hyperlink images so youll have to click on over to my blog to see it. apologies for any inconveniences this may cause. Wednesday, September 25
ah yes, "selfish time". thats one of the things i hold onto right now, but never really got around to putting it in words. the term "selfish time" will do nicely. too bad i dont use much of it towards working out. boooooooooooo. kinda funny, since ive been to a decent amount of weddings this past year or so. it kinda appeals to me and desensitizes me all at once. probably more desensitizing tho. anyway, heres my latest little adventure of sorts: Passerby often report these strange sounds and the indescribable feeling of fear as they walk past. -excerpt from an article on the St. Valentine's Day Massacre ive long known that the st valentines day massacre took place in chicago, but it never really occurred to me to look for the site until this past weekend while in DC. i was watching TV with my friend yidiot in the hotel and the Discovery Channel had this show featuring the top 10 most spine-chilling places on earth or something like that. somehow, chicago made it on the list. specifically 2122 N Clark St, where the massacre took place. they were saying how the place is supposedly haunted, and people hear noises of machine guns and screaming, dogs behave strangely in the area, etc. wow, so one of the supposedly most "scariest" places on earth is right in chicago! how can i resist? so last night i hopped in the car and off i drove towards 2122 N Clark. its a weird phenomenon, even tho there were no signs or anything, i instantly recognized the location of the site as i drove by it, even tho ive never seen it in my life and by then my ADD-tendencies had already caused me to somewhat lose track of the street numbers. so yeah, i guess theres not too much to it. there are 5 trees arranged in a way where 4 formed the corners of an imaginary rectangle and one in the middle (think of the "5" side on dice), which supposedly marks the spot where the 7 guys were gunned down. i felt a small involuntary jolt as i stepped onto the premises but other than that it was nothing. whats funny was this one lady actually did walk by with 2 little dogs, and they didnt react at all. oh well, i guess the history aspect of it was cool, just being there or what not. i took a picture, which i may or may not post later on because its kinda darkish. if i have time im gonna try to go back during the day so i can get some daytime shots of it. whoops, no pun intended. honest.
Dan's right. Marriage IS for fools. Brave fools to be sure..... I dunno kids. I'm not mentally tough enough to get hitched. Running for the hills seem like such a good idea. Well hitting the gym has to be a priority if you want to be consistent. You have to have "selfish time" in order to work out. hang in there and don't give up. Tuesday, September 24
i "keep going to DC dan" because of coincidence, sort of. all 3 trips were for different reasons. 1) vacation, which included a few hours in NY, 2) flew out there to drive back to chicago with a church friend who lives out there [and goes to school here], and 3) for a wedding. ok so i guess all three times turned out to be some form of vacation, but even then there are still tons of stuff i havent gotten to see... and no i dont foresee a 4th trip out there. at least not this year :-D Eric, i emailed fuji inquiring about repairs/warranty stuff and for some reason still havent gotten a reply. i sent out another email, and if i dont hear from them soon ill give them a call during my lunch break or something. getting married is for fools. Monday, September 23
milwaukee's ok. between work 40 hours a week, 9 credits (9 hours of classroom time) and wasting time staring at my computer screen, i haven't really had that much time to meet people. i went back to madison last weekend for less than a day and i've hung out with a couple of people i met in madison so it's been fun at least. i haven't gotten lonely or anything so far. duh, i live right across the street from a bally's and i've only gone once. you get free entry with an msoe id, but you need to walk 2 blocks in order to pick up the 2 hour pass. pain in the butt. i can't picture myself going too many times even though i want to. there are too many other things to do... like the aforementioned staring at my computer screen. when ARE you getting married, eric?
Duh why do you keep going to DC Dan? How is Milwuakee Justin? When are you getting married Eric? Or is that question taboo. Nothing going on here. Though I'm finally off my butt and back in the weight room again. I lost everything I gained before. In fact, I could be in the negative zone, but it's time to buckle down. I think last time I tried to do it too often and got burnt out. Sunday, September 22

the CFL isn't very popular IMO, not with my friends. I think it's a little better midwest, b/c they've got nothing better to do. In general, I don't watch football at all. I like playing it fine, just not watching it. Sunday, September 15
haha, well im not gonna attempt to answer your question, but the few times i saw football on TV while in canada its always been the NFL playing. i kinda wondered the same thing in my mind, but never asked it out loud for some reason. oh well, guess i wasnt curious enough to do so. duh.
Hey Eric, does anyone actually watch the Canadian Football League up there? Unlike baseball or hockey, the NFL has no Canadian teams. I always wondered if the CFL was popular. I'm listening to the Bears game. Go Bears! Thursday, September 12
I think this Lottery bit was a scam. I thought everyone knew that the lottery balls can be rigged. The odds of getting 911 on 911, at such a significant date in the American history timeline, I don't even want to know. I'm sure one of you smartypants can figure it out. Anyway, if ATI doesn't block blogger, I"ll try to write more here. I'll see. It's not that you're not important, but the only time I have broadband is at work, and it seems like a precious waste of time if I blog all dya long. toodle-loo
oh well, im sure y'all heard about it already. still interesting tho... N.Y. Lottery Drawing Pops Up 9-1-1 (article from Yahoo!)
boooooo! wow, all of us [almost] posting within 2 days. should i expect the world to end soon? Lawrence, youre back in madison right? should i try to arrange a kidnap-Justin-and-head-to-madison trip sometime? another friday to sunday thing... oh btw, its cousin check, not heck. Justin, "loj" huh? thats a new one. at least you didnt get "jlo"... like youve never heard that one before. duh! Eric, congrats on the trick. i dont know why you think youre too old, unless you consider yoyoing a sport??? i guess THAT would be a sign that youre getting old. but anyway, its not like i learned to yoyo as a toddler. plus your yoyo background is way deeper compared to mine at the time i started, so if anything you got a head start. age aint nothin but a number. if anything, if youre still able to ride a motorcycle, yoyoing shouldnt pose too big of a challenge :) ok back to work for now.
Dug! I don't check for a while and all cousin-heck breaks loose. Hope you like it over there Justin. Maybe if you called us once in a while we'd call you! Just kidding, man. Well Eric, you have to be better off than me. At least you have hand-eye coordination, where my only coordination comes from playing computer games in college. Good to see Dan going back to classes. As for me, I have one class left this semester, then goodbye stupid lectures! I hate this class, they give us papers to read and then repeat it all in class. If they didn't have the lectures and we just read the papers, we could save 40 hours this semester and learn just as much. Blah. Wednesday, September 11
wow... dan going back to school. that deserves a post! so anyway, cc.losir.com now works again--i just noticed that myself. school's going ok. i missed my first day of class on monday because of the INS, but class on tuesday was pretty good. so i went to get my id badge for the medical college yesterday. and what happens? there's this big, light blue blotch right on my forehead and the barcode is faded to a point where it surely isn't readable. good thing i won't have to use it for much! as long as the proximity chip works--and it does for now--i'll be happy. i got my cable modem installed yesterday as well as my new email addresses set up. if anyone cares, you can email me at [email protected], [email protected] (which gets forwarded to [email protected]) or stick with [email protected]. also, my phone number has changed. it's now 414-510-3640. not that any of you call me as it is...
Dan, I landed my first yo yo trick, and I actually meant it too. :P If I land my trapeze, I can dismount most of the time now. WOohoo. I also did 1 bounce from the trapeze, you know, make it jump up and land right back on the string. I did that once, then well.... it got tangled in my finger, but at least it's progress. I also did a trick that didn't work quite right... hehe. Fling yoyo out the side, hook the left finger like a trapeze, have it spin up and over my right index finger, which goes around back to the left finger and finally, catching it on the string. Of course, when that happened, the yoyo tangles itself and dies. I don't know if tricks can be done off two wraps before landing on string. Anyway, only did it once. Altho I meant to try that, it was a fluke that it landed. Yoyo-ing is kinda fun, but um, at my age, I think it's too late to start learning. ....maybe I can yoyo my cane. Tuesday, September 10
not that i know of. i check this page only when im logged into blogger.com, pretty much. i think its Lawrence's fault that it doesnt work. boooooooooooo. thanks again for opening up your place for the weekend. the camera stuff will be taken care of ASAP. btw Eric, your "lectures" (as you liked to call them) inspired me. im considering registering for that one last class i still need for an associates degree (The one i kept failing). granted, the degree is useless, but maybe itll give me a little more incentive to finish college, as it is more or less a halfway point. who knows, we'll see what happens. classes start 9/19... *sigh*
does this page still get published somewhere? B/c cc.losir.com no longer works... duh had a great time you guys. HOpe I can visit you all soon next yr. Sunday, September 8
Thursday, September 5
great... so theres this IM addiction test thats been going around for a while. its not that new, but note question 12: 12. Would you put up an away message if your house was burning down? just now, my friend throws up this away message: Auto response from BaBu: Stupid fire alarm sorry i'll be back soon! >:o hmmmmm.... Wednesday, September 4
ah, good to see you on here, Roberta. what have we done right, that you have graced us with your presence, twice in a day i might add! i actually find those marble things interesting too. a while back i was at a friend's place (Jeff Chou, his parents own the baseball card store i work at) and discovered he had one of those kiddie playset things where you build a vertical race course for marbles to roll down. i mean, we wouldnt normally do this kind of thing (and neither would the petshop boys) but we somehow managed to get over an hour's worth of entertainment out of it, by betting on certain marbles and rooting for our colors as they made a mad dash for the finish line. we might as well been 5. hmmm... the little flower setting usually does the trick for me. i was pretty close tho. the focal distance for the flower thing is usually 3 cm or less. you wouldnt believe how long i was squatting there like an idiot waiting for the bee to fly to a viewable location. so anyway, for the longest time i was somehow conned into thinking that the petronas towers in malaysia are taller than the sears tower, stories-wise. anyone else fall for this, or am i the only one?? through reading a friends blog, i realized that its far from the truth. for example, check out the diagram on this page. see that? the petronas towers are like midgets compared to the sears tower! i mean, yeah, those little pointy tips do rise above the sears tower-minus-the-antennas, but that shouldnt mean jack. thats like me wearing a dunce cap and announcing that im taller than Lawrence now. duh. oh well, so sears tower it still is, woohoo! go chicago! ok back to work for me. Tuesday, September 3
Daniel, I took a look at your China photos. We didn't make it to Xi'an or Shanghai when were there over there, so it was very cool to see those pics! Especially the terracotta warriors, as they're so famous. That closeup of their heads? That's amazing...they really do have all different faces. And that shot of the bee and blossom is very nice. I don't remember what camera we were using at the time, but we had a lot of trouble with flower photos, even when using the "flower" setting, which didn't seem to make much difference. Oh well. Eric, I saw some of the photos on your blog...there's plenty to look at and I haven't even gotten through 'em all. Love those shots of you on the exercise machine :-) Those are some great photos of Justin's visit, too. And did I ever mention...the artwork on your homepage is adorable?
Hey all, it's been ages since I've been here. At home we looked at the photos from the HK "excercise party"...very cool to see everyone looking well. And Eric, I swear, I practically didn't recognize you. My mental picture of you must be like ten years out of date. How long were you guys in HK? BTW, I get my mail here at work with a very primitive mail reader, and can't look at graphics attachments. Which is why there's usually a long delay before I see them. Booo. My latest toy is very low-tech. It's one of those construction sets with ramps and whatnot that you put together and then roll a marble through. I've been looking for one for what seems like years now. Funny thing, either I don't find one in years, or I find five different brands in two days! I don't know what it is about these marble toys, but there's something about them that speaks directly to my primitive brain functions. For instance, lately I've been watching a lot of Tommy Lee Jones movies. Solely for him I sat through "Blown Away" a couple weeks ago, a crummy experience at best. He was the only thing in the movie that sustained my interest...but then there was this great closeup shot of one of these marble toys. And instantly my brain said, "Tommy Lee Jones? Who cares? There's a MARBLE TOY. Must. Have. Marble. Toy." You know Homer Simpson's reaction to donuts? That's me and marble toys. Well, enough of my strange obsessions. I'm off to check out all the photos you guys have been putting up on the web lately. |
