update: DCNY has been renamed "Dan's album" [same url] i know, boring name, but i didnt come up with it. Thursday, July 4
theres a picture of the card on my blog. i looked on ebay to see how much they were going for, and it varies. the more common autographs go for about $20 or so, while the more popular characters reach low hundreds. im guessing my card is pretty "common". well, its good that you dont "appreciate" it yet, cuz liking gadgets and not being able to afford them sucks, as in my case. oh well, first have to find a real job first. *sigh* duh, i went to NY and DC for fun, of course. well, NY mainly to see the WTC site and my friend's grave, but the cemetary closed way earlier than we thought so i didnt get to see it. just left the flowers by the front gate. booooooooooo. i have a couple of friends living in DC for the summer (bchang & cK - they both got internships there), so we visited them too. with all the driving and junk, i ended up getting less sleep while on "vacation" than normal, but oh well, it was still fun. as sad as it sounds, that was my first vacation with friends, ever. boooooooooooo
Hey Dan, what's an autographed Star Wars Moff JERJEREREOD anyways? Is it worth a lot of money or something? I can't wait till I get to Eric's stage of buying small electronic gadgets. It's such a guy thing, but I can't afford or appreciate it just yet. Why did you go to DC/NY anyways? Wednesday, July 3
due to a lack of personal [ad-free] webspace, pictures from my NY/DC trip are posted here: bchang.freeshell.org/gallery/ [click on "DCNY"] Eric, good choice not buying it, haha. granted, its not a horrible deal, but if youre not really in need of a PDA (which seems to be the case), theres really no reason to spring for it. the m105 is basically sitting at the bottom of the PDA totem pole, so dont expect anything spectacular. i dont think there has ever been any attempt to pass off the m105 as anything more than a budget PDA. i got an m100 (same thing, except it only has 2MB) for my bday and beyond holding ppl's 411, it doesnt really do much else. the only reason i carry it around at all is because i no longer have a cell phone and i cant remember my friend's phone numbers to save my life.
Nope, I ain't gonna buy it. There are just too many PDAs out there that's a better buy, and the M500 isn't free. (Altho the m105 is!) if it came with MP3 playback, I'd snap it up, but it doesn't. I don't know how often I'd be using my PDA, and can't see myself carrying one around all day long for no reason. My pockets are full as it is. I guess I'll have to pass. Besides the lowest price for an m105 is $109 US, which really isn't that expensive in the scheme of things.
Well, the m105 will probably be a gift of sorts. I think another buddy will be interested and give me $ for it. Not sure. The m500 is a pretty poor product it seems. There isn't much hype about it, and not very robust in the feature set. One of the biggest things I want is MP3 playback, and there doesn't appear to have one. Some of the newer PDAs look great, but at double the price, is pretty steep. I don't know how much use I have for a PDA anymore, but it sounds cool to have one fudging around anyway. I don't know many poeple who actually use it all the time.... still the price is attractive. And the fact I'm paying ~$360 for 2 palm products, it sounds pretty tops. Ah heck, I don't know. haha, this thing is coming alive again, sort of. hahahaha. Eric, just let me know i guess. it kinda depends on what youre looking for in a palm. i would personally recommend a CLIE, but thats just me. my friend just got a Zaurus recently. that thing's amazing. too bad i know little to nothing about linux :( also, the m105's retail is "only" $150 (USD), so its not a super killer deal. youd be doing well to sell it off for $70-ish. but then if youre gonna give it away as a gift or if for whatever reason you need a second PDA, then yeah its a good deal. I don't like DU as much either. Sorry. :) Hey, I"m back, sorry I haven't read this like FOREVER. Hey, Dan, any chance you can help me get that Palm pilot deal? M500 and free M105? They have the "same" deal for Canada, except it's only $100 CAD more expensive, even after with an exchange rate of 1.7. (It should only be 1.6x) Let me know, I'm still debating whether it's necessary to have one, but if I can get 2 for the price of one, that would be funky. |
