ok i scrapped the job idea... too big of a time commitment with little to no practical experience coming out of it. sure, there's the $$$ but in the long run i think this will set me back more than anything else, so fuh geet about eet.

Eric, not sure if you still needed to find a digital camera, but i can probably help you out since i spend every night searching for deals. actually in the past a lot of pretty good digital camera deals have come and gone. if you want, just post what features, price range, whatever that youre looking for and i can take a look. i can either post it on dealuniversity or email links directly to you, whichever is easier. just let me know.

Lawrence, what email address do you usually check?

Justin, ummm... you still read this?

anyway, not much going on, besides the possibility of an upcoming full-time job. so far all i know is the company name (Pact, Inc) and how much ill be making (not too much). as far as job description goes, im practically clueless, but right now i need the money so as long as its not ridiculously stressful im gonna try to keep it as long as possible. its by no means a "permanent" job of course, and ill still be attempting to continue classes (GROAN).

ok, back to work for me.

just like everything else, this page has piddled out to inactivity.... :)

Slots do nothing for me, too mechanical, and boring. There isn't one iota of skill involved....

Pass. Besides, even to casino operators, Blackjack is the ONLY gambling game that anyone has a chance of winning consistantly. Every other game is a sucker's bet.... that's the way it's set up.

Actually, the new BJ tables use a continuous machine shuffle, every hand played will be reshuffled. This eliminates card counting/tracking. There's basic strategy and advanced strategies. Basic strategy is a chart to memorize which tells you exactly what to do in every card combination vs. the dealer's one faced up card. When followed correctly, the house will only have a minute percentage advantage. We're talking like ~1%. It sounds miniscule, but that's exactly all the house needs to consistantly make money off you.

When card counting is implemented, the advantage to the player becomes something like less than 1%, the more elaborate the counting scheme, the better the percentage, but we're talking like .001 of a percentage or something silly. It's kinda funny. I don't remember the percentage actually, but I'm just tyring to show just how small the advantage is. There are tonnes of "learn to play BJ" websites... I don't remember any.

no more about gambling.

very late, but a little something for all to read. it's kinda long, but very interesting and perhaps accurate (a lot of it is for me). definitely worth looking through eventually, if not all in one sitting.

i just want to be friends

I never knew you were that into it, Eric. It's cool that you were able to cut it cold turkey. I think I could do well in blackjack/poker if I bothered to learn all the tricks. So I purposefully keep myself ignorant. That way, I won't get tempted into playing if I know I suck so bad I can't win anything. I hear there are penny slots, though. I think I could waste a good amount of time at one of those. Woohoo.

Firstly, gambling is wrong.... but it sho is fun massa.

I was starting to learn the black mystic arts of card counting at BlackJack, then I realized. "It's become a focal point of my life, this can't be good." So I stopped cold turkey. Haven't gambled in like 4-5 months. I would practice counting card with all my spare time. It was very sad.

But yes, nickel slots are easy to win b/c they want you to bet more. The idea is that if you find it easy to win w/ little money, the it should be exponentially be just as easy to win big money. Try this though.

Go to the dollar slots, and randomly put in a dollar at several places. You'll soon notice that it's easy to win 5-10 dollars here or there, quite often in the first few tries. This is to sucker you into staying at the slot. If you want to make a quick buck, try that. :) Oh, no guarantees!

Dan: Glad to hear my 3 Sook is doing good. Psorisis can be such a dibilitating disease... it's quite the downer. Thank goodness my outbreaks are few and very controllable. I remember my days of U, where I worked full time and schooled part time. That was hell. My whole back was covered in psori. Nasty as hell, hurt too, winter time chafing and all that.

Oh well, luckily I don't have cancer, yet.

a snippet of an IM conversation between freakball (co-founder of dealuniversity) and myself (yodaslap is me):

yodaslap: aww yeah!!!
yodaslap: just call me mr myagi!
jsc4480: what
yodaslap: i just knocked out a fly with a pen
yodaslap: no visible wounds
jsc4480: ok mr myagi
yodaslap: it was in perfect condition
jsc4480: haha
yodaslap: but it was out cold
jsc4480: dork
jsc4480: go flush it
yodaslap: it landed on my monitor and i just whacked it with my Sanford Uniball ONYX micro
yodaslap: color: red

i could brag about this for days!

Great to hear that you're dad's doing well, Dan. I got a book on Chinese herbal medicine, but I'm not really sure to trust the stuff. I guess it's my Western upbringing, since I'd rather know exactly what's in the stuff before I eat it. Still, it seems to work a lot, so I don't know.

I won $12 at a casino, whee. Nickel slots. We think they let new people win so they keep betting more. I was spending some ($3) of what I won, so I'm glad I stopped and came out ahead. I saw some people dump $50 in and just lose and lose and lose. They were moving mechanically. Blah, they should at least have fun losing their money.

zinc tablets and banana peels are what my dad takes/uses. he used to take chinese herbal medicine or what not, but it would only cure it temporarily, so he'd have to keep going back. by banana peel i meant like rubbing it on the skin... supposedly good for it.

anyway, forgot to mention it... my dad's surgery went well. he went back to work the following monday, and he's fairly mobile for the most part (walks with a slight limp). he went in for a follow-up last week, and he'll get the small metallic post sticking out of toe removed in a couple weeks or so. he likes his handicap parking permit.

as you can probably tell, there's not much going on with me. basically the same old. blah.

also heard that someone has been taking a chinese herbal medicine. 6 months straight, banning certain foods. They said 90% cure. I have to ask the person when I see him, or go see the Chinese doctor he got the meds from.

Thursday, July 12
Hey, if we look into that, we should let the uncles know. I'll see if I can dig something up...

Kiss of the Dragon is really good, btw. Much better than Romeo Must Die.

hey, there's some laser surgery thing for psorisis now.... I can't remember what it's all about.... maybe it's not laser, but some kind of light? I dunno, ask about it... :)

Sunday, July 8
i took that little death test thing on Eric's blog. here's my result:
---
Whoa. Seriously, dude. You totally don't even want to know.
---
i feel like i got ripped off.

Friday, July 6
boooo! jigging is all i can do. anyway, Lawrence, when you're not busy we will go to Krispy Kreme. hopefully your experience will be better than Eric's. hot doughnuts fresh off the conveyor belt make a world of a difference.

anyway, my dad went into surgery this morning. his psoriasis caused one of his toes to become deformed and bend the wrong way, so he had it realigned. he's not supposed to move too much for the first 24 hours afterwards, so i've been home all day.

ok, kinda out of it so i dont know what else to write about for now.

Thursday, July 5
Duh! It just shows that Dan doesn't know how to dance because he can't recognize when someone is just jigging to rap. It also shows I can't dance, even though I'm not white.

I'm still Krispy Kreme-less.

Wait, I didn't say I can dance. But it's just about spazzing your body to the music. The move itself is the motive. Sounds deep.

Who cares how much of a dork you look like, if a particular song makes you want to flail your arms, slap your knees and dance a jig, well then??

I knew I could still work that in.

Tuesday, July 3
BTW i "somehow got the idea that Lawrence can dance" because i've actually seen him dance, in my room no less. i put on a rap CD and he started to get his groove on. i was like, what duh, he's really dancing! and yeah, he was pretty good.

well earlier i signed up for techies.com where i was somewhat forced to submit a make-shift resume. i havent included every single job that i've worked at, but in terms of applicable stuff its all there. most likely nothing will come of it since i dont even have a 2-year degree yet, but hey, it's free so what have i got to lose. anyway, i'm at my friend's house (actually i've more or less been here since my previous post about not dancing) so i'm gonna get going. they're having a mini-jam session with a couple guitars so i'm gonna go jump in. weeeee

Well, I see once again that I'm missing out not being in Toronto with Eric! I need to pick up some moves, and not just dancing. wink wink. I like it when you guys write about good things that happen to you on blog, especially if it involves talent. It's strange, but I have a lot of pride in the ol' family. Maybe I inherited it from my mom.

I can't dance anyways. Somehow Dan got the idea I can dance because I've been to a few clubs. I keep telling him that in the dark, no one can see you dance and wouldn't care anyways. So I dance horribly with my friends and just have fun.

Hey Dan, write up that resume! Eric's the most experienced of us about real-world work, so maybe you can send him a copy too. My friend Justin (Roess, not Lo) works at Computer Discout Warehouse (CDW) in Naperville, and they're in desperate need of salespeople. I told him you weren't looking for a sales job, but he says you can learn a lot of technical stuff from working there, mostly hardware knowledge. You can email Justin at [email protected] if you want to learn more. It's close to my house, so that's about 45 mins. drive, up on route 59. They want someone with sales experience and computer knowledge, so I thought it might be right for you. It's $8.95 an hour plus commission.

heh, well i'm not "too cool" to learn, dancing just confuses me, thats all. there's no motive in dancing... i think if i were to try (and yes, i've kinda tried once, at a wedding because i was forced to), i'd perpetually be thinking "what the heck am i supposed to do with my arms and legs next?" this kinda reminds me of the time a friend back at U of I asked me "dan, how come you can skate but you can't dance?" first of all, i don't see the correlation between the two. second, skating involves movements that have a motive. for example, if i need to steer right, then my legs will move in a way that will cause me to move right, and so on... but with dancing, there's no motive. i'm not gonna be dancing my way out of the club or anything, so how am i supposed to know how to move next? well anyway, dancing just doesnt seem very fun to me as of now. maybe that'll change later, maybe not. plus cK is being pursued by my friend, and JT is taken, so whatever. anyway, maybe Lawrence can teach me sometime, ha ha ha.

I liked my post so much I'm gonna mirror it on my other blog. :)

Dan, Dan, Dan. Learn to Dance. :) Somehow that's very catchy....

Okay, I"m not talking about faggy ball room dancing, or even swing. But learn to appreciate music and express that appreciation with your body. Nothing beats it, nothing. Okay, dancing with a girl tops it. Okay, a beautiful girl is even better.

Actually, swing is really back in fashion, depending on your circle of friends. I was at a bar once, and this really beautiful looking Latina was standing by herself, I struck up a conversation thus:

me: Excuse me, I don't wanna sound stupid, but I really love that colour of blue on your dress. You remind me of my childhood....

Her: Really? (Giggles), how so?

me: Serious. When I was a kid, I used to walk in the mountains w/ my grandparents, we'd always walk by this one house that had the exact same shade of blue on it's window shutters as the one you're wearing, it's very comforting when I see you in that dress. Makes me think of myself as a child.

Her: Oh really? Well I'm glad I can bring a little bit of your childhood back for you. (Turns to leave)

me: Well, thanks again, the dress looks great on you BTW. Where did you buy it?

Her: (turns back, smiles even more) I made it myself.

me: Bogus, you couldn't have, it just looks so stunning.... you in it. You make the dress look good I guess.

Her: (Smiles, she knows the game is on.) You don't believe me? Feel for the tag on the inside of my dress.....

SHe was wearing a one piece tube dress. Very sexy, and she had, umm... big pecs.

I put my hand inside the top back of her dress, and I accidently pulled and unhooked one of her bra straps. I swear, it was an accident. But unhooking a bra strap with one hand have always been a trick of mine. Don't ask. I'm not a pervert, something I picked up in Grade 7....

She turns around, totally shocked. I'm like: Whoops. Sorry.

She does it back up, smiles, knowing the game is in full effect. "See? I told you."

We talk for a little longer, really cool getting to know her. Then she had to leave eventually, and that was that. I don't ask for phone numbers. I'm happy just to have other men at the club stare at me enviously b/c I'm talking to a hot chick. My friend came up to me later and he's like: Holy ^%$#@!!. I can't believe you were like talking to her, she was so freaking hot.

I'm like. Yeah. We even danced a little.

....Swing dancing, I swear, it works. You don't have to learn. But if a girl asks you to dance, don't be all like "I'm too cool to learn."

fool and cool, only a letter apart.

Monday, July 2
i watched A.I. earlier today. it was pretty good... kinda artsy and slow at some points but i think it's worth the watch. i probably wouldn't want to sit through it again, but i don't regret watching it. not sure if everyone has seen it yet so i won't write about it. anyway, not much else really worth mentioning for now. kinda tired, so i think i'm gonna turn in soon.
