keep in mind superman 2 isnt wearing a belt... thats 3 differences now.

anyway, last night was a bit different from the usual ho hum. i had "dinner" with some friends (bchang, cK, JT) at the Mashed Potato Club. it was pretty different from where i would normally hang out (yes i'm boring), but a change in scenery can be good. the place is basically a dance club with tables and chairs, mini dance stages, misc R-rated (beyond?) music videos playing on the many screens on the walls, and drag queens serving us free jello shots (donations were welcome of course). the "main dish" there is mashed potatoes, which you've probably guessed by now. you order it by the scoop (kinda like ice cream i guess), either normal or sweet potatoes, and you can choose from a huge list of toppings. i paid about $15 for 3 scoops of mashed potatoes, 5 oz of chicken, chicken gravy, and swiss cheese. after we finished eating, the girls inevitably wanted to dance, but after much torturing and guilt trip-giving, i stood my ground and stayed seated at the table. sure, you can call me a party pooper but i have no idea how to dance and i have no intentions of learning how anytime soon. bchang the pushover weakling finally got up (he cant dance either, but he likes cK) to join them. i don't see what the big deal was trying to get us to go along, since cK and JT eventually ended up dancing on one of the mini-stages by themselves anyway. dorks. afterwards we walked around the city for a few hours, nothing overly dramatic. i got home around 3, which is the latest i've gotten home in quite a while. i was very tired.

other than that, it's been the same old. i called Lawrence earlier today to see if he was busy but he wasn't home. oh well, unlike me he actually has a life so i shouldn't have been too shocked to find that he was out. anyway, dinner time for now.

damn, this is uncomfortable. It's weird, b/c I work with people who are all at least U grads, and here I am, barely finished 1st year, working with them.

Scary schtuff, and yet I can't tell them I never graduated. Long story, work knows I don't have a degree, but most don't.

:-) They say you have to have a good memory in order to be a good liar. And I only found like 2 differences between superman 1 and 2. The afro and nice tan gave it away, but the smiles, looked near identical.

dan, that's some funny stuff... superman. I cracked and cracked and crackd.

here's a little something for all to try. concept might sound simple, but it's pretty hard. i could barely find one... good luck.

This is a simple psychoanalytic test to measure your memory. Open the
first Superman picture, memorize it, then close it. Open the second
picture. Without reopening the first picture, try to note each of the
differences between the two pictures. There are at least three. If you
can find five or more, you have above average memory.

First Picture: Superman 1
Second Picture: Superman 2

Lawrence, are you living at the Regent by any chance? Sounds about right... No catches about it. I guess you're just so used to paying Chicago prices for housing and stuff. The Regent is actually kind of expensive. Call me next time you're up...

oh wow. i didnt know you went up to Madison, Lawrence. anyway, so is that $600 each, or is that split with your psycho roommate?

anyway, just sitting at work right now, inbetween doing things. not much going on in the time being. i might be ordering a new yoyo sometime soon, but i'm sure no one cares, ha ha ha. ok that's all for now i think. nothing exciting going on. i might go play some softball after work, if it's still light out by then... after i go buy an oil filter that is. gotta change the oil tomorrow. blah. i miss the old car i used to drive, where all the engine oil would gradually leak out every 500 miles or so, so oil changes were "automatic", in a sense. then again it was cuz i did a bad job keeping it filled that led to the car's untimely death. you win some, you lose some.

Went to Madison yesterday and got an apartment. I can't believe the deal I got, and it's not even a university-owned place. Ethernet, breakfast, utilities included, furnished, etc. etc. All for $600/month. There's got to be a catch though. Bodies in the walls or something. I'll have a random roommate, too. Maybe he'll be psycho. Oh well, at least we'll have separate bedrooms.

The cajun sauce was great on the burger and fries. Blogging from class again. Hahahahahaha!

Monday, June 25
sour grapes? well, i had a couple of sour raspberries yesterday while eating them off a tree.

anyhoo, Lawrence and i went downtown today for a bite at McCormick & Schmick's. Justin has been there with us before once, too. Basically, there are certain time slots where the bar offers a menu where every dish is just $1.95, provided you buy a drink (10 oz. soft drinks start at $2 each). you can get stuff like a full-sized burger with fries, a plate of mussels in wine sauce, tortilla chips with shrimp salsa, the list goes on. not bad.

ok gotta go for now. as usual, a member of my family is nagging me and trying to control my schedule.

12 seconds of fame? Highly unlikely. 1 minute on the internet is 7 dog years by comparison. So I would say you got at most, 2-3 seconds of fame, at best.

Sour grapes? Nah.....

Friday, June 22
ha ha ha ha ha

here's about 12 seconds' worth of my 15 minutes of fame on tuesday and friday. scroll down near the bottom for both.

can I just read and not participate as much?

Oh, I'm doing that already.

Great to see you guys doing good.

Thursday, June 21
Blogging from class at COD, whee! Lecture is pretty useless, all the material and tests are online. I'll read dan's entry when I get home. Later.

well, here's kind of what i lost the other day.. nothing much, just a quick run-through of what i'll be up to for the summer. here goes.

i was orginally supposed to take bio for the summer quarter, which wouldve been my last requirement for a 2-year degree. as it turns out, i wasnt able to register in time because of an academic hold (basically, i didnt do too hot last quarter) and at the same time a few random misc web projects came up, so i figured, eh, what the heck. it kinda feels nice not to go to school, but at the same time i feel like i'm letting the time drain away. oh well, not a total loss... i learn way more outside of school anyway. plus i didnt plan on transferring to a different school upon getting the 2-year degree anyway, so it's not really setting me back that much. one personal project i'm working on right now is a homepage. i haven't had a "real" one since over 3 years ago or so. i'm making it basically to learn how to make a webpage. i've noticed that a considerable number of my friends are under the wrong impression that i'm able to whip up a webpage on demand, so i guess hopefully someday [soon] i really will be able to. i started on it yesterday and i have the skeleton of it up. the content will be coming along eventually i guess. i won't reveal the URL yet, since the design is still pretty preliminary (and please dont try looking for it... im sure some if not all of you can probably find a way to figure it out). anyway, i've also recently taken an interest in learning DMB songs. needless to say, a lot of them are pretty difficult but it's certainly re-sparking my interest in guitar, which is good. i've long been stuck at a [fairly low] plateau, and as a result i've kinda lost interest for some time. kinda funny, cuz even just a year ago i would never have even thought about listening to dave, and now i'm aspiring to learn it. weird how things change.

anyway, i think that's it for now. my little yoyo demo thing is tomorrow (technically later on today), so i should try to get some rest before i make a fool of myself 8 hours from now. if i forgot anything, itll be in a later post. good night all.

Tuesday, June 19
I've heard of the flame thrower thing for a while now. THere's also a mustard/pepper spray you can install in the dash, so that when your carjacker takes off in the car, you can remotely pepper spray him, making him crash... how nice.

Then again, they get like 15,000 cases of carjack each year.... something horrendous.

an interesting story for all to read.

aw crap, blogger just died on me and once again i forgot to copy before posting, so it's gone. well, i dont have time to re-type everything now... maybe later.

Saturday, June 16
I'm back home and unpacking, so I don't have any time to blog. Also, my friend is visiting from Houston. I'll check in later.

Thursday, June 14
My Blog is back... altho updates may not be frequent. Go read why.

Wednesday, June 13
hey Eric, what's going on? why aren't you updating your blog anymore?

Monday, June 11
boy i'm tired but i thought i'd drop a note. i just found out [earlier] today that my summer classes start tomorrow!! kinda sucks, considering my last quarter ended just 4 days ago. i was kinda mad about it earlier on but now i'm just way too tired to really be upset for any reason. other than that, i've been pretty complacent about everything... not really sure what to make of anything. generally speaking i feel i don't really have any direction right now, so i dont really get excited or disappointed about much nowadays. it could be both a good thing and a bad thing, i guess, depending on the circumstance. i'm not sure if that made sense, but i tried. BTW did i mention i was tired?

Saturday, June 9
Well I saw Orlando on Jay Leno last night, he was really funny. It didn't look rehearsed or anything like some interviews. I'm thinking about seeing Evolution.

i watched evolution tonight, and man, i couldn't/can't stop laughing!! orlando jones is just too much! i'm gonna have to refrain from mentioning the specific details of what exactly makes me laugh, partially due to the fear that i might lose control and go into convulsions again.

anyway, too tired to write anymore for now... anyone saw/plan on seeing it?

Thursday, June 7
I'm headed down to U of C tomorrow for a 1-year reunion (I know, we're sentimental), I'm pretty excited. Don't know what we'll do though, besides watch the graduation of the younger year. Probably just hang out and catch up on stuff.

Tried my first Guinness today, and I'll never drink it again. It's too bitter. Blah!!!!!!!!

we got tricked into watching the wrong show, somehow. actually as of now i dont even really know what exactly happened, but i'll be sure to get my money back or get a free ticket or something. i'm at work right now so i don't have time to retell the story, but it's on my blog, if anyone wants to read about it. or, if it's easier i can just transfer the post onto here... one less link to click on, i guess.

sorry, no posting long time.

Why did you miss the first hour? It was a long setup to be sure, but I guess it was suppose to make the audience feel for the characters.... whatever. It's okay. I didn't think it extremely boring or what.

What I didn't like was the stereotypical portrayal of the Japanese. Do they all talk really grim and constantly frowning? Each time the Admiral wasn't talking, he was frowning.... Maybe it was historically accurate. I've seen several Japanese movies, and they frown a lot too. Damn, the Japs are a unhappy lot. Maybe that's why they're so perverted!

well, i've already posted my pearl harbor story on my blog, but here's some further thoughts on it after reading Eric's blog (6/6/2001 post)...

since i didn't watch the first hour, i guess i can't offer fair opinions on the movie, but here they are anyway... first off, i thought the movie (or what i saw of it) was pretty good. at the very least, i didn't consider it a "waste of two hours", but i'm also keeping in mind that i did miss the first hour, which i've been repeatedly told was deathly boring. as for the similarities to titanic and top gun, i'd probably let it slide. i mean, there are only so many ways you can portray a sinking ship and dogfights, afterall. i don't really know enough about the japanese language/history to comment much about the correctness of it or the nippon vs japan dilemma. what did stand out to me were the scenes where the japanese pilots were preparing for battle. stuff like the loin cloth, headband, drinking of the sake, and even the way they posed for the pictures are all kamikaze rituals. however, these pilots had full intentions of completing the mission and returning home alive, and i also know for a fact that kamikazes weren't really [widely] used until near the end of the war, when the japanese were taking more desperate measures. of course, for all i know maybe ALL japanese pilots prepared for battle in that way, kamikaze or not, but it stuck out as a possible "hollywood error" to me. one thing i would have to agree with Eric is the lack of blood and gore in the movie. granted, it's PG-13, but come on, it's a war movie. i was somewhat dismayed at the fact that the "exploding men" were in fact intact... not because i'm some bloodthirsty savage who enjoys the sight of people getting blown into bits, but it really made the war scenes a lot less realistic. saving private ryan (which is one of my favorite movies of all time) has certainly raised my standards for war movies, but i think pearl harbor is still a good movie in its own right.

Tuesday, June 5
Yay Blogger's fast again! I feel alive! I feel free! Duh.

well, my quarter is winding down this week, so i probably wont have time to post anything real. my procrastination has definitely gotten the better of me, and now i'm swamped. i'll check back on wednesday, after my last test. hopefully ill have the discipline to stay off blogger til then. ha

Monday, June 4
When I leave Northwestern, our program will shrink to 4 guys (and 14 girls), since another guy is leaving too, for Columbia. Haha.

Now to rent a moving van, ARGH! I should have done it long time ago. Now I bet there won't be one available in one week. Boo.

Sunday, June 3
just got back from a camping trip with some church friends. it was fun, but don't feel like posting about it right now. maybe later.

Friday, June 1
Well, so I'm trying to sublet my apartment. I just put up all the flyers with my phone # and stuff that you can rip off. Kind of a pain in the butt, but you need to do what you can I guess. I have to do the showings myself, plus I've got finals! Argh, I should have started earlier... Hope I don't get any stalkers.

duh!! really?? still, 5 years ago is still a relatively long time ago, i guess. oh well...

anyway, i would write more, but i should sleep. im going to michigan tomorrow for a camping trip with church friends. the weather will be kinda crummy but hopefully it'll be fun anyway. well, good night all
