Was at Una Mas on the weekend with Fido, Special K, and waterbaby. Just getting our groove on....
As the beats began to rhythmically entrance the mass of people dancing on the main floor, several individuals decided to breakdance. Clearing a circle of space, they took turn busting out old school and newer moves. Stuff I'd recognize from days of yore, mixed in with higher energy breakdancin' poses that's just refueling the underground. Okay, I won't pretend to know all there is about breakin', but back in the day, lemme tell you.... I could moonwalk and robot with the best of 'em. Har! Anyway, enough about my pathetic past. I soon bore of watching these kids, so I headed upstairs for a drink. When I returned, the circle of people became a mass of confusion. I shoved my way through until I saw what the hub-bub was all about. There, on the floor, laid a white dude looking to have passed out, his feet propped up into an "A". He was barely moving, with his friends holding his hands, coaxing him to stand. They turned off the music and threw on the lights. Apparantly, the buddy was trying some wicked move, and he lost control. I didn't ask what he was trying to do, but the end result is pretty apparent. He laid there, not knowing whether his neck, spine or anything else was broken. He was just on the floor, with his friends by his side, helpless, hopeless, totally embarassed. Finally, after like 10 minutes, the security guys ushered him out, since he appeared to have just been winded. What's the moral of this story kids? ....That's what happens when White folks from the 'burb try to be cool. As one of the girl who saw it happen said to me: "We're white, we should just stand on the side and clap." Ouch! |
