One of the most arduous sport of the last millennium has got to be Dodge Ball; of which I happen to excel at.
Now, I haven't played competitive dodge ball in about 16 years (okay, I haven't played at all since then), but as I recall, in grade 6, I was a wily player, always one of the last one or two person left on the court at any given time. Although my throwing ability wasn't "Top Gun", my ability to keep from being hit was. I put the dodge in dodgeball baby! I was loved by many, and reverred by all as someone who could outlast the competition. The opposition's hurlers would know that if I wasn't taken out ASAP, I would generally last longer than them, while depending on my mates on the opposition's back line to hit the others. Oh man, how I shined in my glory days. I heard some disturbing news today on the radio. They want to BAN dodgeball from the schools and playgrounds, because it promoted aggressive behaviour and encouraged the strong picking on the weak. Umm... excuse me? What's wrong with that? Our whole civilization is built on preying the weak, it's not about to change because we banned dodgeball from the schools. What weed are they smoking? I really wish there was a professional dodgeball league, much like the NHL or NFL. I can see it: NDL!! ....and I would be paid millions of dollars to play a game I love. What a novel idea.

Let's see if Blogger allows me to post this time... heh.
I finally saw Pearl Harbor last night. It was pretty much what I expected it to be. Two hours of sappy dialogue mixed ham-handedly with American patriotism, reminding all Americans that no one should mess with them. Total propaganda, sponsored by the United States of America! Of course the remaining one hour was action packed, but if you squinted your eyes and covered your ears, you'd know the director loved both Top Gun and Titanic, borrowing heavily (plagiarising?) from the best scenes of each. That's not to say there weren't anything good about the movie. The main actress is very pretty, instantly making me fall in love with her smile. The movie is well shot, with a really good sense of epicism. I don't know if that's a word, but you know what I mean. Of course, the movie was historically inaccurate, but that's to be expected from a Hollywood film I guess. From what I read, at least the Japanese being spoken isn't modern post-occupied Japanese. Supposedly there's a difference, and I would guess that's true. I know several people taking or have taken, or speak Japanese, and they say there are quite a few words that sound like English. I assume they're just like slangs in any language. I wouldn't have known the difference anyway. I thought the proper racist phrase for Japanese was "Nips", since Japan was known as Nippon back then. I don't know the whole history, so I"m talking out of my left nostril. I remember having stamps from the Land of the Rising Sun with Nippon spelled on there. I'm sure to piss of Japanese people, white folks used Nip. But they just kept calling them Jap, or Jap Bastards. I guess it's a little more politically correct. Maybe it's like instead of calling me Chink, they say "Riceboy." I was going to talk about this whole racist issue and how they dehumanized the Japanese like they do any other enemy in every movie; even to the contrary interviews read by the actors playing the Japanese. But I won't bother. What's the point? Afterall, they did attack the Americans at Pearl Harbor, warranted or not, they are the antagonists. Of course, if I had made the movie, I would have shown how the Japanese were sleeping when all of a sudden, the Yanks bombed the crap out of their factories too, and did some parallel shots of how the Japanese men were blown to bits. But hey, that's just me. Also, for a war movie, there was very little blood and body parts. If you watch, the exploding men were always intact, never body parts like Saving Private Ryan. Even the water was nice and unbloody. ....It was a pretty good waste of 3 hours though.

Blogger is at it again! "Error: Could not get input/output stream for: ftp.geocities.com"
Oh well. I just realized that my life is one big 15% off. Just when I think I'm worth retail, the cosmic forces decides they'll thrown in a discount, which essentially covers the taxes, as long as my life keeps getting off track.... (Ontario tax is 15%, donchaknow) *sigh*. ....I don't have a clue as to what I just wrote, but it sure sounds deep.

I remember my younger brother having a friend who was gifted and dyslexic at the same time....
Does that mean he learns things really fast, but just learns them wrong? ....people have a right to know! |
