Champ’s Brat played his first season in 2007 getting 9th in overall points. He also managed to score well in both cup and busch as he finished 6th and 10th respectively. But through his picking, he showed he could pick winners getting 3 wins including the Pepsi 400. Champ’s Brat is a proud member of the Hendrick Fan Squad Leaders as they finished 3rd in team points. They also got the record for the most cup races in a row per team with 2.
Champ’s Brat came into the 2007 Chase ready to do well after failing to qualify for the Truck Chase. He finished 7th overall with 3 wins. His highest finish of the two chases he qualifed for was in Cup where he finished 6th with 2 wins. To cap off the year, he finished 10th in Busch with 1 win.
For 2008, he'd try to take on the charge of his idol as he'd finish 5th in overall points. He'd start this charge by winning 4 cup races, including the Auto Club 500, on the way to finishing 5th in points. But one of the highlights had to be scoring his first ever Nationwide win at Daytona with the Camping World 300 on the way to scoring 4 wins total for the year. He also managed to score his first ever Truck win at Milwaukee and put up a tough fight to make the chase the final 3 weeks, though lost out in the final race to finish 13th, 17 points out. He then would continue his success in the ARCA Series as he'd win 2 races with his first being at Toledo. Though one of his strongest points would be the newly added East Series as he'd win a series high 3 races with Greensville, Iowa, and Nashville on his way to finishing 11th in points. Also, he left his mark in the West Series with it's first year as he won 2 races with those being Texas and Iowa. He also showed his strength in the USAR Southern Series as he won the Greased Lightning 250.
In the 2008 Chase, Champ’s Brat turned some heads as he finished 6th in the Overall Chase, 7th in the Cup Chase with a win in the TUMS QuikPack 500, and 5th in the East Chase, 59 points out of 1st.
