For the 2008 season, it was Eric's first year so therefore it equalled some trying fun. In the regular season, Eric experienced some success as he'd win 4 Nationwide races including the Food City 250. He'd also experience success in the truck series with 2 wins, including his first at Charlotte, though would finish 13th, failing to make the chase by 16 points. He'd go to win 2 ARCA races including his first with the Allan Crowe 300, 2 east races with them being Nashville and Mansfield and 1 west race at Texas. Though he would have lots of success in the USAR Southern Series by winning the most races of anybody with 5 on his way to finishing 10th in points; those races he won were USA International, Georgia, Concord, Milwaukee, and the 4 Brothers 250.
In the 2008 Chase, Eric didn�t do that bad as he finished 11th in the USAR Champions Chase.
