Xukry's Illusionist Show in Yjsbso
With minor variations, the five weeks you spend in Yjsbso are much the same
as the five weeks you spent in Megalopolis.
The minor variations are these:
1. Yjsbso has its own language, which is totally unpronounceable.
Some people also speak the Common Tongue, but not everyone.
2. You are back to performing at a theatre. It is cold and draughty.
3. You and Nylchrinie share a room in a hotel catering for visitors from other worlds.
Although there are baths on the premises, they are cold.
There seems to be no hot water in the city.
The food is nutritious, but you do not have much choice about what you eat.
Local food is poisonous to visitors from other worlds,
so you have to eat in the hotel, and their menu is very limited.
It is also very expensive
(but fortunately Xukry is still paying!).
4. The other dancing-girls are in the hotel too.
Most of them have caught colds, to which you (as an Earthling) are comparatively immune,
so you do not see a lot of them.
Nylchrinie has a cold too, and is thoroughly miserable.
5. There are fewer shops in Yjsbso than in Atlantis,
but they are well-organised (shops selling similar goods are in the same street)
and the prices are reasonable.
You can actually afford to buy things!
At the end of the five weeks, Xukry informs you that the show is moving on.
You are not. He points to a clause in the small print of the contract
(written in the Common Tongue, which you can read now, although not when you agreed to it).
Your initial twenty-five week term is up, and he does not wish to renew.
There are highly-skilled Yjsbson dancing-girls he wants to employ in your place.
If you consider reacting violently, you do not consider it for very long.
Realistically, you cannot threaten Xukry with violence and then rely on him to teleport you somewhere desirable.
Xukry will not be renewing Nylchrinie's contract either, but since she is a native
of Vlydyga and Vlydyga is Xukry's next venue, he will return her to her home as a
gesture of goodwill.
Xukry does not know where your home (Urf?) is, and cannot return you there,
and does not feel obliged to take you to Vlydyga, even if you wanted to go there.
As you are leaving Xukry's company, you have to hand your working clothes back to Xukry.
That includes the earrings. Suddenly, you find that your fingers have no trouble removing them.
In their place, Xukry gives you a jewelled necklace.
You and Nylchrinie say a tearful farewell.
Then Xukry makes a magical gesture and he and the entire company vanish.
You are alone in Yjsbso.
You have various options in Yjsbso, but I have not yet written any of them up.
