The Fifty Worlds: NPCs

Krud the Thug

Krud the Thug is exactly what he appears to be. He is the stupid guy with a big sword who stands there hitting monsters while the more intelligent members of the party work out which spell to cast.

Usually, he is still there hitting monsters long after the rest of the party has been eaten.

[AD&D-Specific] Krud the Thug, human male, Str 18(00) Dex 15 Con 17 Int 10 Wis 11 Cha 14 Align N Hp 141. Fighter, level 21.

Krud's biggest advantage is that he is not quite as stupid as he looks. But he does have other things going for him, including 42% magic resistance, +1 on all damage rolls (a thug kit benefit) and a natural armour class of 5.

Krud is good with all sorts of weapons, but he is particularly good with two-handed swords (weapon mastery gives him +3 to attack and damage rolls, and fighting style specialisation lowers the speed factor to 7, and with weapon specialisation he gets five attacks per two rounds).

Krud does not use armour. It is too complicated. Besides, if he hits the monster, the monster will be dead, and dead monsters don't bite, so why should he need armour?

Krud does not carry very many magical items. If he did, he might have to think which one to use, and that would never do. Give him a magical two-handed sword (+5, perhaps, or a sword of wounding), a +4 cloak of protection and a +3 ring of protection, and a couple of other magical items which don't require thought on the part of the user (a ring of free action and boots of speed, for example).

Krud has no ethical beliefs whatsoever (he rarely thinks about anything except killing monsters, and certainly not about abstract things like ethics) so his alignment works out as neutral.

Krud expects women everywhere to lust after him, on the grounds that that is what they normally do. When, occasionally, they don't, he is more puzzled than offended.

Krud once owned the Ring of Tricky Wishes. He made a very simple wish and it was granted. He does not know who owned the ring next, or where it is now.

Krud is, obviously, a parody of player character fighters. He should be played as such.
