The Fifty Worlds: NPCs

Sir Digby de Breosy

Sir Digby de Breosy is the epitome of a Norman Paladin. He is tall, handsome, well-spoken, courageous, skilled in the arts of war, arrogant, fanatical, and has a disdainful contempt for lesser beings.

[AD&D-Specific:] Sir Digby de Breosy, human male, Str 16 Dex 12 Con 15 Int 11 Wis 15 Cha 18 Align LG Hp 83. Height: 6'1", weight 175 lb. Age: Thirty-something. Paladin, level 15.

Sir Digby worships the One True God. He believes that the One True God is both lawful and good. It follows that anyone who does not worship the One True God is both criminal and evil, and should be killed in order to protect the lawful and the good. Protecting the lawful and the good is his duty - it is, after all, what paladins are for - and he is happy to carry it out.

Sir Digby particularly hates pagans. And he particularly hates one pagan in particular, Sabrina.

Sir Digby does all the usual paladin things. Knight in shining armour on horseback, Holy Avenger sword. He is welcome almost wherever he goes. He treats peasants with the contempt they deserve, and they love him for it.

Sir Digby is not welcome in Atlantis, where they recognise a troublemaker when they see one, but could turn up anywhere else.

Note for DMs:

If the player characters run into trouble with demons or undead, Sir Digby will help them. What you see is what you get - a fearless warrior against chaos and evil.

However, Sir Digby's main function in the campaign is as a potential nemesis for Sabrina. Even when there is nothing else going on, the sheer hatred these two have for one another is enough to keep a campaign interesting. This is not the sort of hatred that turns to love in the end. This is the sort of hatred that continues until one or other of them ends up as a dismembered corpse in a ditch. With good guys like these two, who needs evil?
